「彼女はにっこりした」「彼女は微笑を浮かべた」…このような表現から、どんな女性をイメージするだろう。「にっこりする」「微笑を浮かべる」は英語ではどちらも “smile” だが、日本語母語話者は“smile” する、異なる人物をイメージすることがある。また、日本語母語話者は、このような表現と人のイメージの関係を（時に操作的に）利用して情報伝達をしている。この授業では、日本語母語話者学生と外国人留学生がことばの「操作性」を材料に日本語や日本文化について考え、他言語との違いや共通点を学び、また協働作業を行う。

What kind of woman do you imagine from such expressions as "kanojo ha nikkori sita” or “kanojo ha bishou wo ukabeta” (both mean “she smiled")? "Nikkori suru" and "bishou wo ukaberu" are synonyms for the English word "smile.” From expressions indicating the same action, native Japanese speakers may imagine different images of the person. And they use this relationship between representation and personhood to convey information, sometimes manipulatively. In this class, Japanese and international students will think about Japanese language and culture, and
learn the differences and commonalities between Japanese and other languages through collaborative work using such “manipulability” of language as a material. (This course is conducted in Japanese.)
「人を笑わせたいが難しい」「みんなは笑っているが自分はおもしろく思えない」…このような「おもしろさ」にまつわる困難は、個人の嗜好や言語能力によるのか、それとも社会文化的な背景が影響するのか。本授業では、日本人学生と外国人留学生が、おもしろい話を通して日本語や日本文化について考え、また他文化との比較や翻訳・通訳活動を行うことで、「おもしろさ」にかかわる多様性と共通性を学ぶ。

"I want to make people laugh, but it's too difficult." "Everyone else is laughing, but I don't find it funny."... Are these difficulties related to "fun" due to personal preference, language ability, or socio-cultural background? In this class, Japanese and international students will think about the Japanese language and culture using funny talks, and learn about the diversity and commonalities between Japan and other countries of "fun" through comparing with other cultures and translation activities. (This course is conducted in Japanese.)
日本語を母語としない留学生が日本語を学ぶ際に理解や習得が難しいとされる文法項目を取り上げ、それをどのように理解し、どのように説明できるかを考える。時に留学生の母語である他の言語との対照を通して、日本語の言葉のしくみや使い方の特徴について考える。同時に、日本語を主たる材料として、言語学の基本的な概念も学ぶ。
/International and Japanese students will consider the characteristics in structure and usage of the Japanese language sometimes in comparison with international students' native languages. We will address grammatical patterns that are difficult for non-native Japanese learners to grasp and use correctly, and discuss how to explain them clearly with the Japanese students. The international students will discuss how Japanese is different from or similar to their native languages, and deepen their understanding of its structure and cultural background.
日本人学生と留学生の共修クラスで、日本語の用法や日本語でのコミュニケーションの仕方について意見交換を行い、日本文化を複眼的に捉えると同時に、多文化間における円滑なコミュニケーションを実現する方法を探求する。

This course aims to deepen students' understanding of cross-cultural communication with non-native speakers of Japanese through conversation sessions, while also enabling them to communicate smoothly. Students will consider cross-cultural communication through the experience of participating in conversation sessions with learners of Japanese, reading papers, lectures, and discussions with other students.
我が国における外国人労働者や留学生の受け入れをめぐる議論に象徴されるように、近年、グローバリゼーションに伴って国境を越える人の移動が活発化し、各地で社会の多文化化―民族・文化・言語の多様化―が進行している。しかし、それは各社会に格差・摩擦・紛争を生じさせ、「多文化共生」を切実で困難な課題として立ち上がらせています。この授業では、そうした21世紀が抱える課題について、関連の文献やメディアの読解・視聴、現場のフィールドワーク、外国人受け入れに関わる関係者との議論、受講生同士のグループワークを通して理解を深めることを目的とします。また、そうした作業を通して、読む・書く・聴く・話すといった基本的コミュニケーション力を磨きます。
As the argument on the acceptance of foreign workers and international students in Japan shows, the mobility of people across national borders has been increasing in recent years due to globalization, and the multiculturalization of society, the diversification of ethnicity, culture, and language in various parts of the world has been in progress. However, such changes cause disparities, frictions, and conflicts in many societies, and raise 'intercultural cohesion' as an urgent and difficult task. In this couse, we will deepen our understanding of the issues facing the 21st century through reading related literature and viewing videos, conducting fieldwork in the field, having a discussion with stakeholders involved in accepting foreigners, and doing a group work among students. Furthermore, through such work, students will improve their basic communication skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
国際共修クラスで留学生とともに世界的に有名な日本の古典文学『源氏物語』を読むことを通じて、日本語と日本文化を複眼的に捉えると同時に、複数の言語と文化についての知見を深める。
In an intercultural co-learning class students will gain a multifaceted understanding of Japanese language and culture through reading The Tale of Genji, a world-famous classical literature in Japan, while deepening knowledge of multiple languages and cultures.
本科目は、現代社会や企業団体などが直面する課題に当事者意識をもって向き合い、課題解決に向けた調査・分析を通して、仕事や働き方について考えていくことを目的とする。
履修者は、議論や調査結果の発表に向けて、授業時間以外の時間も活用しながらグループ単位でプロジェクト型学習を行う。なお今年度は授業の一部として、複数大学で同時に実施される「課題解決プロジェクト」に参加し、解決策の提案を行う予定としている。

The purpose of this course is to face the issues facing modern society and business organizations with a sense of ownership, and to think about work and work styles through research and analysis aimed at solving the issues.
Students will conduct PBL in group units while utilizing time other than class hours for the presentation of the survey results.

この授業は、仙台商工会議所青年部の協力を得て実施する。この授業では、留学生と国内学生が協働して、地元企業について学び、課題を発見し、その課題に関連する調査を実施し、解決策を提案するというプロジェクトワークを行う。留学生と国内学生それぞれの視点や立場を生かし、ディスカッションや調査を通して解決策を導くための新たな提案を行うことにより、企業・学生・地域社会にとって意義のあるものにする。履修学生はこのプロジェクトを通して、地域のビジネス現場を知り、課題発見・解決能力やコミュニケーション能力を含む社会人としての素養（エンプロイアビリティ）を高めることを目的としている。国内学生は、英語能力や異文化協働能力を向上させる機会となる。留学生は、日本の企業文化やビジネスの現場について理解を深めることができる。本授業は、主として英語によって行われるが、日本語も補助的に使用する場合がある。
This course is held in cooperation with the SENDAI Young Entrepreneurs Group (SENDAI YEG), an organization of young entrepreneurs from local companies in Sendai. This course is an international collaborative course; international students and domestic students collaboratively learn through a group project. Students will visit a local company in Sendai, conduct research, and present solutions for a problem of the company. This class aims to be beneficial not only for students and local companies, but also the Sendai community through discussions and group work by international and domestic students that use their diverse perspectives. Through this course, students will be able to have a better understanding of business in Sendai, and to develop employability by enhancing professional competencies such as communication and problem-solving skills. Domestic students can improve their English language skills and cross-cultural competency. International students can gain an understanding of Japanese business culture and Sendai's local companies.
The language used in this course will be primarily plain English, supplemented by Japanese.
日本の言語文化を複眼的に捉え、日本語母語話者にとっての当然が外国語話者の驚きにつながるような日本の言語文化の不思議を発見し、日本文化に特徴的な概念が日本語にどのように反映しているかを考察することで自文化・異文化理解を深めます。また、多様な言語文化背景を持つ学生同士が国際社会における価値観やコミュニケーションスタイルの違いを乗り越えながら、主体的で対話的なアクティブラーニングを通して協働的実行力を身につけます。授業は基本的に日本語で行いますが、必要に応じて世界共通語である英語の使用を認めます。
Through collaborative learning between Japanese and foreign students, you will discover some unique aspects of Japanese language and culture from a contrastive point of view. By actively participating in discussions on the theme of how Japanese culture is reflected in the language with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, you will deepen your understanding of Japanese language and culture, and develop an appreciation of other cultures. Through student-led active learning, you will gain collaborative skills. In principle, Japanese is used in class; however, the use of English is allowed as a lingua franca.
