言語学の新たな方向性を根源的に問い直す新しいパラダイムとして認知言語学は近年着実に進展している。その言語研究のアプローチにおける基本的な考え方、分析方法を学ぶ。言語の語彙・形態レベルの現象からはじめ、その研究手法に基づく様々な言語現象を扱った最近の研究論文を読み最近の研究動向について知る。
/Cognitive linguistics has made steady progress in recent years as a new paradigm that fundamentally reexamines the direction of linguistics. Students will learn the basic ideas and research methodologies in this new approach of Cognitive Linguistics. Students will read recent research papers dealing with various linguistic phenomena in this approach, starting with lexical category organizations and morphological phenomena of language.
今日の機能主義的言語理論には、機能的談話文法（Functional Discourse Grammar）、役割指示文法（Role and Reference Grammar [RRG]）があるが、今回は、生成文法、理論的前提を部分的に共有する認知文法（Cognitive Grammar）との相違を
踏まえた上で、RRGを紹介する。
Today's functionalist linguistic theory includes Functional Discourse Grammar) and Role and Reference Grammar [RRG]). In this class, I will mainly introduce RRG, highlighting the differences between generative grammar and cognitive grammar (a linguistic theory that shares some of its theoretical premises).
自然言語は、さまざまなレベルで構造化されている。まず、音と意味の恣意的な組み合わせである「語」、「語」と「語」の統語的な組み合わせにより作られる「句」ないし「文」、更には、その「文」と「文」のつながりにより作られる「複文」や「重文」から成る。また、「語」の内部にも、複合語や派生語のばあいには、一定の法則で支配された内部構造がある。ここで「構造」とは、統語構造、形態構造、音韻構造、概念構造のことであり、加えて、「文」の中での構成要素同士の語順の決定には「情報構造」も大きな影響を及ぼす。また、「文」の構造と意味の理解には、メタファー・メトニミーなどの多機能性に関する法則や、文法化・構文化・語彙化・イディオム化の言語変化に関係する法則も関与する。
本講義では、生成文法理論、語彙意味論、形態論、音韻論、機能文法、認知文法、歴史言語学、言語類型論などの言語学の各分野の最新の知見と成果を踏まえて、自然言語の構造の体系と、そこに見出される法則性について講述する。また、言語の形式と意味が通時的にどのように変化して来たか、その結果として、世界の言語にはどのような変異が見られるか、などの問題についても講述するとともに、演習問題にも取り組む。
この授業は、前半8回と後半8回で異なる教員が担当します。
This class will be taught by different faculty members for the first 8 sessions and the second 8 sessions.
前半8回では、現代言語学の研究目標，研究対象，分析方法，基的概念などについて学びます。
In the first eight sessions, students will learn about the research goals, research objects, analytical methods, and basic concepts of modern linguistics.
後半8回では、前半に続き言語学の基礎的概念と分野について学んだ後、「文法化」という特定な研究分野についてもう少し詳細に学びます。
In the latter sessions, after continuing the general introduction to linguistics, students will learn in some more detail about a specific area of research, grammaticalization.
