近年、歴史学の分野ではグローバルヒストリーの手法が盛んに用いられ、地域横断的または超長期の比較考察が一般化している。この分野における地検は、一国を単位とする縦横の比較を基本としてきた比較政治学に対してどのような示唆を与えるのだろうか。この演習では、グローバルヒストリーを代表する2つの著作を取り上げ、歴史学と比較政治学の相補的な関係についての考察を深める。
In recent years, global history methods have been widely used in the field of history, and cross-regional or very long-term comparative studies have become commonplace. What implications does geographical examination in this field have for comparative political science, which has been based on vertical and horizontal comparisons within a single country? In this exercise, we will discuss two leading works in global history to deepen our consideration of the complementary relationship between historiography and comparative politics.

なぜ死生学という学問が誕生したのかというところから始め、終末期医療、在宅での看取りといった現代医療の問題や、大震災被災地での支援、老人介護など、超高齢多死社会といわれる現代生活の多様な局面を取り上げながら、誰もがケアの担い手になり得るという現実を理解し、それぞれの立場から人間の生と死を取り巻く諸問題にどのように対処していけばよいのかを考察する。
This course describes the origins and purposes of the discipline of tanathology and covers various problems and challenges faced by modern medicine, such as an increasing demand for terminal care and home health nursing. Today, we are asked to provide care and support in multiple and varied circumstances: as volunteers in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as elderly care workers, etc. Ultimately, any member of our super-aged, mass death society may find him- or herself in the position of a caregiver. This course aims to prepare students for this role and give each of them an opportunity to look for his or her personal way to address a range of issues related to human life and death.

This course will focus on Japan's economy between the 1990s and the 2010s, a period called as "The lost thirty years", as well as overviewing the economic, demographic and social issues that Japan may face in the future.
The course aims to further improve the students’ ability to do economic research and to develop higher-level skills in finding answers as well as creation of hypothesis.
This course is designed to provide insight and analysis into the global context of universities in Japan and around the world. Universities and higher education play an essential role in contemporary knowledge-based societies. At the same time, the characteristics of contemporary universities are inextricably linked to their historical contexts, to issues of access and equity, and to mobility in terms of brain gain/drain and brain circulation. This course will cover the following topics: (1) historical origins and current trends in higher education, (2) access, diversity, equity, inclusion, and funding in higher education, (3) the knowledge economy and higher education, and (4) international dimensions of higher education. Across these themes, participants are expected to examine the role and value of universities in Japan and the world from interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches. Doctoral-level studies on the nature of universities as academic and professional education and research with deep insight coupled with clear analysis are expected.
このコースは、日本および世界の大学のグローバルな状況についての洞察と分析を提供することを目的としています。現代の知識基盤社会において、大学と高等教育は不可欠な役割を果たしています。同時に、現代の大学の特徴は、その歴史的背景、アクセスや公平性の問題、頭脳の獲得・流出や頭脳の循環といったモビリティと表裏一体の関係にあります。このコースでは、以下のトピックを取り上げます： (1)高等教育の歴史的起源と現在の傾向、(2)高等教育におけるアクセス、多様性、公正、包摂、財政、(3)知識経済と高等教育、(4)高等教育の国際的次元。これらのテーマを通して、参加者は学際的・横断的なアプローチから、日本および世界における大学の役割と価値を考察することが求められます。学術・専門教育・研究としての大学の在り方について、深い洞察と明確な分析を伴った博士レベルの研究が求められます。
