近年、歴史学の分野ではグローバルヒストリーの手法が盛んに用いられ、地域横断的または超長期の比較考察が一般化している。この分野における地検は、一国を単位とする縦横の比較を基本としてきた比較政治学に対してどのような示唆を与えるのだろうか。この演習では、グローバルヒストリーを代表する2つの著作を取り上げ、歴史学と比較政治学の相補的な関係についての考察を深める。
In recent years, global history methods have been widely used in the field of history, and cross-regional or very long-term comparative studies have become commonplace. What implications does geographical examination in this field have for comparative political science, which has been based on vertical and horizontal comparisons within a single country? In this exercise, we will discuss two leading works in global history to deepen our consideration of the complementary relationship between historiography and comparative politics.
テキストを丁寧に読み進め、それぞれの章で扱われているテーマについて参加者同士の議論を深めていく。特に報告者を置くわけではないが、参加者は毎回意味のあるコメントを1回以上行うことが求められる。
The text will be carefully read, and participants will deepen their discussion of the topics covered in each chapter. Although there will be no particular rapporteur, participants are expected to make at least one meaningful comment each time.

１）グローバルヒストリーの手法に関する知識と、それらの長所・短所についての理解を深める。
２）グローバルヒストリー知見の政治学的意味、および現代世界における諸現象への応用可能性について、自分なりの考えを持つ。
1) To develop knowledge of global history methods and an understanding of their advantages and disadvantages.
2) To develop one's own ideas about the meaning of global history findings in comparative politics and their applicability to various phenomena in the contemporary world.

個別的な参考文献については授業中に紹介する。
政治学理論に関して不明な点は参考図書やネット検索等を通じて下調べをしておくこと。また、多数の事例が扱われるので、個々の事例に関する概説史的な知識を押さえておくこと。
If you have any questions about political science theory, please do some preliminary research through reference books or internet searches. In addition, since a large number of cases will be covered, students should have a general historical knowledge of each case.
