In this PBL course, groups of Japanese and international students will be provided with opportunities to conduct research and give proposals on promotion of DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) on university campus. Students will deepen their understanding of minorities in Japanese society and Tohoku University's policy of promoting DEI, and conduct their own research projects to identify problems through interviews, surveys and literature reviews, and propose how we can promote DEI campuses. This class incorporates intercultural co-learning methods where students from different backgrounds will collaborate on the projects.
この授業は、留学生と日本人学生のグループが大学キャンパスのDEIを進めるための調査・提案を行うPBL型授業である。日本社会におけるマイノリティや東北大学のDEI推進方針に関する理解を深め、インタビューやサーベイ、文献レビューなどの調査プロジェクトを通じて課題を発見し、どのようにDEIなキャンパス作りを推進していけるのかを検討・提案する。本授業は、留学生と国内の学生が共に学ぶ国際共修授業で英語を主要言語とする。

This class provides both international and domestic students with opportunities to learn from each other through thematic discussions and collaborative projects. Interactions among students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds are built into the learner-centered lessons where different ways of thinking, values, communication as well as working-styles are embraced in this class. The class will be conducted in Japanese, but English can be used as supplement.
この授業は、仙台商工会議所青年部の協力を得て実施する。この授業では、留学生と国内学生が協働して、地元企業について学び、課題を発見し、その課題に関連する調査を実施し、解決策を提案するというプロジェクトワークを行う。留学生と国内学生それぞれの視点や立場を生かし、ディスカッションや調査を通して解決策を導くための新たな提案を行うことにより、企業・学生・地域社会にとって意義のあるものにする。履修学生はこのプロジェクトを通して、地域のビジネス現場を知り、課題発見・解決能力やコミュニケーション能力を含む社会人としての素養（エンプロイアビリティ）を高めることを目的としている。国内学生は、英語能力や異文化協働能力を向上させる機会となる。留学生は、日本の企業文化やビジネスの現場について理解を深めることができる。本授業は、主として英語によって行われるが、日本語も補助的に使用する場合がある。
This course is held in cooperation with the SENDAI Young Entrepreneurs Group (SENDAI YEG), an organization of young entrepreneurs from local companies in Sendai. This course is an international collaborative course; international students and domestic students collaboratively learn through a group project. Students will visit a local company in Sendai, conduct research, and present solutions for a problem of the company. This class aims to be beneficial not only for students and local companies, but also the Sendai community through discussions and group work by international and domestic students that use their diverse perspectives. Through this course, students will be able to have a better understanding of business in Sendai, and to develop employability by enhancing professional competencies such as communication and problem-solving skills. Domestic students can improve their English language skills and cross-cultural competency. International students can gain an understanding of Japanese business culture and Sendai's local companies.
The language used in this course will be primarily plain English, supplemented by Japanese.

The course, through active learning, aims at enhancing the student's knowledge of intercultural communication and understanding, and skills in planning and presentation. Eventually, this course is intended to boost the student's global leadership, including global perspectives, goal-oriented mindset and self-management/planning skills, in order to achieve their targeted goals. This course will be conducted in Japanese basically, with English used as a supplement depending on the content of the classes.

本と子どもが好きな学生と留学生に適した国際共修クラスである。さまざまな文化背景をもつクラスメートと本について対話をし、自己の理解、他者の理解を深め、国際教養を身に付けるとともに、本をテーマにした現代的課題を見つけだす。さらに、日本やさまざまな国の子どもたちに対する多言語ブックトークイベントの企画と実施を通して、異文化での協働力、問題解決力、創造力、コミュニケーション力を身に付けることを目的とする。留学生は東北大学日本語コースのレベル４（日本語能力試験Ｎ３合格レベル、中級前半修了程度）以上であれば、登録可。課外活動も行われる。
This course is designed for both domestic and international students who like books and children. The aims of this course is to promote 1) students' understanding of both themselves and others, 2) acquisition of international liberal arts, and 3) finding contemporary issues on the theme of books, thorough
discussions with classmates who have different cultural backgrounds. In addition, planning and holding book-related events for children in the world enable students to acquire collaborative, problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills. International students: International students can registrate this course if you are at level 4 of the Tohoku University Japanese Language Course (Japanese Language Proficiency Test N3 pass level, completion of the first half of the intermediate level) Extracurricular activities will be also required.
・インバウンドとは、訪日外国人観光客のことです。政府（観光庁）をはじめ、全国の各自治体でインバウンドにもとづく国際的な観光事業の展開が図られています。
・このような社会情勢に対応して、地域の観光事業を推進できる人材を育成するため、広く学生を対象に観光産業への理解の促進を図る講義（座学）と演習（実習）をセットした教育を行います。
・観光、運輸、サービス関係に就職を考えている人だけでなく、金融、官公庁、製造業に就職する人も、インバウンドの知識はビジネスチャンスや地域振興に有用です。
”Inbound” refers to foreign tourists who is visiting Japan. In light of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the government (Japan Tourism Agency) and other local governments across the country are working to develop international tourism businesses based on inbound tourists.
・In order to develop human resources who can promote local tourism businesses in response to these social conditions, we have set up a set of lectures (in a classroom) and exercises (practical training) aimed at promoting understanding of the tourism industry for a wide range of students. マンガは文字と絵の複合的なメディアである。マンガを読むという行為は、文字認知やイメージ処理、ストーリー理解や感情表現といった、ヒトの認知処理が関与する多くの要素を含んでいる。しかし、マンガの読みの認知特性に関してはまだ研究が十分に蓄積されておらず、探求すべき価値のある多くのテーマが残されている。そこで本授業では、マンガを読むという身近な行為を、認知科学の視点から科学的に探求することを目的とする。（マンガを描いたり、マンガの批評やレビューを行うといった主旨ではないことに留意してほしい。）
Manga is a complex media of text and pictures. The act of reading comics involves many elements of human cognitive processing, such as text recognition, image processing, story comprehension, and emotional expression. However, the cognitive characteristics of comics reading have not been sufficiently studied yet, and there are still many themes worth exploring. In this class, we aim to scientifically explore the familiar act of reading comics from the perspective of cognitive science. (Please note that the purpose of this class is not to draw comics or to critique or review comics.)
