The purpose of this class is threefold.
To deepen the knowledge and understanding of the students by introducing their own cultures to each other through the "Metaverse".
To introduce their culture with a greater sense of reality, immersion, and realism by utilizing "XR technology".
Students will learn how to compare their own culture with that of other countries, and develop an attitude of interest in and respect for other cultures.

この授業では、主に日本の発酵食品と仙台味噌について学び、仙台味噌の海外展開について検討します。前半部分では、発酵食品について、日本や海外の料理・調味料を紹介しあいます。後半部分では、仙台味噌についてのゲストスピーカーによる講義や工場見学を通じて知識を得、仙台味噌を履修している留学生の出身国・地域の人に広めるためのレシピの開発や販売方法について提案します。
この授業は、国内学生と留学生が日本語を使い学習を行います。さまざまな出身の履修生と交流を行うことで、コミュニケーション能力、協働する能力などを身につけます。
In this class, students will learn mainly about Japanese fermented foods and Sendai miso, and discuss the overseas expansion of Sendai miso. In the first part, students will introduce each other about fermented Japanese and international cuisines and seasonings. In the latter part, students will gain knowledge about Sendai miso through lectures by guest speakers and factory tours, and make suggestions on how to develop recipes and market Sendai miso to promote it to people in the countries and regions where the international students taking the course are from.
In this class, domestic and international students study together in Japanese. By interacting with students from various backgrounds, students will acquire communication and collaboration skills.
日本の言語文化を複眼的に捉え、日本語母語話者にとっての当然が外国語話者の驚きにつながるような日本の言語文化の不思議を発見し、日本文化に特徴的な概念が日本語にどのように反映しているかを考察することで自文化・異文化理解を深めます。また、多様な言語文化背景を持つ学生同士が国際社会における価値観やコミュニケーションスタイルの違いを乗り越えながら、主体的で対話的なアクティブラーニングを通して協働的実行力を身につけます。授業は基本的に日本語で行いますが、必要に応じて世界共通語である英語の使用を認めます。
Through collaborative learning between Japanese and foreign students, you will discover some unique aspects of Japanese language and culture from a contrastive point of view. By actively participating in discussions on the theme of how Japanese culture is reflected in the language with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, you will deepen your understanding of Japanese language and culture, and develop an appreciation of other cultures. Through student-led active learning, you will gain collaborative skills. In principle, Japanese is used in class; however, the use of English is allowed as a lingua franca.
「人を笑わせたいが難しい」「みんなは笑っているが自分はおもしろく思えない」…このような「おもしろさ」にまつわる困難は、個人の嗜好や言語能力によるのか、それとも社会文化的な背景が影響するのか。本授業では、日本人学生と外国人留学生が、おもしろい話を通して日本語や日本文化について考え、また他文化との比較や翻訳・通訳活動を行うことで、「おもしろさ」にかかわる多様性と共通性を学ぶ。
（外国人留学生対象日本語プログラムの授業との合同開講、授業は日本語で行う）
"I want to make people laugh, but it's too difficult." "Everyone else is laughing, but I don't find it funny."... Are these difficulties related to "fun" due to personal preference, language ability, or socio-cultural background? In this class, Japanese and international students will think about the Japanese language and culture using funny talks, and learn about the diversity and commonalities between Japan and other countries of "fun" through comparing with other cultures and translation activities. (This course is conducted in Japanese.)
この授業は、仙台商工会議所青年部の協力を得て実施する。この授業では、留学生と国内学生が協働して、地元企業について学び、課題を発見し、その課題に関連する調査を実施し、解決策を提案するというプロジェクトワークを行う。留学生と国内学生それぞれの視点や立場を生かし、ディスカッションや調査を通して解決策を導くための新たな提案を行うことにより、企業・学生・地域社会にとって意義のあるものにする。履修学生はこのプロジェクトを通して、地域のビジネス現場を知り、課題発見・解決能力やコミュニケーション能力を含む社会人としての素養（エンプロイアビリティ）を高めることを目的としている。国内学生は、英語能力や異文化協働能力を向上させる機会となる。留学生は、日本の企業文化やビジネスの現場について理解を深めることができる。本授業は、主として英語によって行われるが、日本語も補助的に使用する場合がある。
This course is held in cooperation with the SENDAI Young Entrepreneurs Group (SENDAI YEG), an organization of young entrepreneurs from local companies in Sendai. This course is an international collaborative course; international students and domestic students collaboratively learn through a group project. Students will visit a local company in Sendai, conduct research, and present solutions for a problem of the company. This class aims to be beneficial not only for students and local companies, but also the Sendai community through discussions and group work by international and domestic students that use their diverse perspectives. Through this course, students will be able to have a better understanding of business in Sendai, and to develop employability by enhancing professional competencies such as communication and problem-solving skills. Domestic students can improve their English language skills and cross-cultural competency. International students can gain an understanding of Japanese business culture and Sendai's local companies.
The language used in this course will be primarily plain English, supplemented by Japanese.
1、実践的な学問である異文化コミュニケーション学を体系的に理論ベースで学ぶ。例えば、異文化コミュニケーションのメカニズム、文化の定義、コミュニケーションの定義、など。
2、いろいろな国からの留学生との話し合いや実践演習アクティブラーニングを通し、文化とコミュニケーションの両方についての理解を深めること。
3、効果的なコツを学ぶこと。
全体として、テキストを読み、その中からの演習や話し合いをたくさん実践していくことで、自分の体験として学んでいくプラクティカルな授業でもあります。
1.Learn basic theory and concepts of intercultural communication.
2.Experience communicating with people from different backgrounds and adjust to different cultures through discussions and experiential learning with other classmates, including other international students.
3. Practice some useful cross-cultural tactics with classmates.
You will learn Japanese culture and other cultures through some theories and much discussion, hence you will be able to apply what you learned in your real life.
外国人留学生対象日本語プログラムの授業との合同開講。授業は日本語で行う。留学生の出身国・地域の大学に日本人が留学する場合や、日本人がそこで働く場合の諸事情について、日本人学生と留学生が協力して調査し、発表したり、グループ討論したりする。そして、日本人学生も留学生も、自文化と異文化の相違点の分析を通して多様な考え方に触れ、自文化を再認識したり、自分と異なる考え方を許容したりする姿勢を養う。日本人学生には、留学生にわかりやすい日本語で話すことが求められる。

will cooperatively investigate what conditions are like for Japanese people who study and work
in the international students' home countries/regions, then give presentations and hold group
discussions on their findings. By analyzing the differences between their own and other
cultures, both the Japanese and international students will come into contact with diverse ways
of thinking, learn more about their own cultures, and foster tolerance for different ideas. Japanese students are required to speak in Japanese that is easy for international students to understand.

The purpose of this course is for students to learn about Japanese communication behaviors and culture, using a comparative approach with other cultures. You are to learn through your own experiences--very interactive and practical.
You will also learn intercultural communication mechanism and get to practice communication cross-culturally.
Through the peer teaching discussion in the beginning of each class, you will learn about the other cultures of your peers as well as Japanese values, and your own culture.
It is taught in English and some Japanese.
異文化コミュニケーション学の基本を学びながら、焦点として、日本人のコミュニケーション行動と文化について学ぶ。
特に日本人のコミュニケーション行動の動機は何かを、日本人の価値観を学びながら考察する。無意識であることが大半なので、日本人学生にとっては、留学生とどう違うか、またはどの部分が似ているかを体得できる。
留学生と触れ、異文化コミュニケーションを実践で体験する。
授業は英語と少しの日本語で実施する。
