【国際共修】異文化コミュニケーション学基礎：理論と実践演習（日本語） Interultural Communication Basics （Japanese)
1、実践的な学問である異文化コミュニケーション学を体系的に理論ベースで学ぶ。例えば、異文化コミュニケーションのメカニズム、文化の定義、コミュニケーションの定義、など。
2、いろいろな国からの留学生との話し合いや実践演習アクティブラーニングを通し、文化とコミュニケーションの両方についての理解を深めること。
3、効果的なコツを学ぶこと。
全体として、テキストを読み、その中からの演習や話し合いをたくさん実践していくことで、自分の体験として学んでいくプラクティカルな授業でもあります。
1.Learn basic theory and concepts of intercultural communication.
2.Experience communicating with people from different backgrounds and adjust to different cultures through discussions and experiential learning with other classmates, including other international students.
3. Practice some useful cross-cultural tactics with classmates.
You will learn Japanese culture and other cultures through some theories and much discussion, hence you will be able to apply what you learned in your real life.

ことがより可能になる。
２． 文化の違いを肌で体験することでオープンな心を養うこと。
3．日本文化を客観的に学び、外国人や自分と違う文化の人により積極的に話せるようになること。
1, Students will systematically and practically learn about differences and similarities in communication styles, values, and behaviors of Japanese, of other cultures, and of their own cultures.
2, Students will become more familiar with foreign cultures through interaction with other students from different parts of the world.
3, They will develop more open-mind and they will be ble to communicate more proactively.
授業の1/3は講義、残りは話し合いや演習です。体験を通して学ぶ。
理論を学び、かつ多くの演習、話し合いが組み込まれた、実践がメインの授業です。

.Topics from the textbook to be covered in the order as shown below.
1. Orientation
2. Why study intercultural communication now? It is everyone’s matter now.
3-4. Communication mechanisms: what is communication anyway? Too basic? Or, too profound?
5-7. Verbal communication; We can take it as if we play word games like the association game. After all, communication may be better thought as “miscommunication.”
8-9. Wordless messages: nonverbal communication; How impactful this is! Knowing this makes a big difference in your communication and your life.
10-11. Invisible culture: values and cultural characteristics; We act based on our values and beliefs, which are motives for our behaviors.

週に1時間前後の授業外学習が必要となります。
基本的に、2週間ごとに1章づつ進みます. 事前にテキストを読みクラスの話し合いに備えてください。
発表の準備は、グループの話し合いが必要であり、楽しくもあり成長の糧にもなり得ます。
One hour or so weekly outside of class work is needed.
We proceed each chapter of the textbook basically bi-weekly, so read each chapter in advance to discuss in class.
You will also have group meetings to prepare for your group presentation.

授業は日本語で行うが共修の形態をとり、日本語でディスカッションできる力があれば、外国人学生も大いに歓迎です。
留学生は、N!ぐらいのレベル以上で日本語が読み、話せるのが望ましいです。
