目的：大きく社会が変革した明治期日本で生じたさまざまな歪み―社会問題―の事例を学び、議論する。その事例に基づいて社会問題に関する理解を深める。それにより、社会科学の基礎を身に着け、現代日本が抱える諸問題を長期的な視点で理解できるようになる。
概要：履修生全員で、明治期日本の社会問題について、教科書や学術論文、時には一次史料を輪読し、議論していく。
Purpose: To study and discuss case studies of various distortions - social problems - that arose in Meiji Era Japan, a time of great social change. Based on those cases, deepen understanding of social issues. This will enable the students to acquire the basics of social science and to understand the various problems facing contemporary Japan from a long-term perspective.
Outline: All students will read textbooks, academic papers, and sometimes primary historical documents in rotation and discuss social issues in Meiji Era Japan.
このセミナーでは、長期的な視点かつ複合的な視野に基づいて現代日本社会における問題や課題について理解を深めることを目指す。特に多くの問題に関連する雇用問題について学ぶ。それと同時に、受講者に、「失われた30年」とも呼ばれる1990年代から2010年代までの日本経済、およびこれから日本が直面する経済、人口、社会問題を鳥瞰する視点を提供する。
・経済現象に関する問いを立てて調査を進め、仮説を提示することを体感する。
This seminar aims to deepen the understanding of issues in modern Japanese society based on a long-term and complex perspective. Specifically, students first learn about "employment" .This course will also focus on Japan's economy between the 1990s and the 2010s, a period called as "The lost thirty years", as well as overviewing the economic, demographic and social issues that Japan may face in the future.
The course aims to further improve the students’ ability to do economic research and to develop higher-level skills in finding answers as well as creation of hypothesis.
受講者に、「失われた30年」とも呼ばれる1990年代から2010年代までの日本経済、およびこれから日本が直面する経済、人口、社会問題を鳥瞰する視点を提供する。

Outline:
This course discusses that modern innovation after Meiji era of building material, structral system and seismic design method developed by importing and domestic technology, and corresponding trigger historical incidents of natural disaster.
Objective:
The course objective is understanding in depth the innovation of modern seismic design technology through lecture and discussion about the development of Japanese seismic design method.
本講義では、東北大学の歴史を重要な資料を中心に詳しく説明する。本学を構成する各部局の設置に至る経緯を中心に講義を行い、歴史学的な観点から東北大学の特徴や個性を理解することを目指す。【In this lecture, the history of Tohoku University will be explained in detail, focusing on important documents. The lecture will focus on the background to the establishment of the various departments that make up Tohoku University, and aims to understand the characteristics and individuality of Tohoku University from a historical perspective.】
（1）誰が、何を、どれだけ、いつ、どのように生産して、消費するのか（資源配分の問題）と（2）人々のどのような動機付けによって資源配分が決まるのか（インセンティブの問題）に着目して歴史を考察するのが「経済史」である。すなわち、人類の経済活動の歴史とは、資源配分とインセンティブの問題を解決する過程に他ならない。ここで中心となる仕組みは制度と組織である。こうした視点をふまえながら、日本を主たる対象事例として時代や地域で異なる特殊性と共通する一般性を理解できるようになることを本講義の目標とする。
Economic history examines history by focusing on (1) who, what, how much, when, and how resources are produced and consumed (resource allocation problem) and (2) what motivates people to allocate resources (incentive problem). In other words, the history of human economic activity is nothing other than the process of solving the problems of resource allocation and incentives. The central mechanisms here are institutions and organizations. The goal of this lecture is to understand the generalities common to each period and region, as well as the particularities that differ from period to period, using the post-World War II period, which is directly related to the present day, as the main case study.
本授業では、フェミニズムの歴史を学ぶとともに、日本の思想遺産である主婦論争を解読することを目的としている。さらに、男性や社会にもかかわる論点がなぜ女性の論点として論じられてきたのか、なぜ女性のライスコース選択をめぐる論争が時代や論点の変容を経ても繰り返されるのかなど、社会のメカニズムについても考察する。さらに、東大祝辞（2019年）を読み解くことを通して、日本におけるジェンダー問題を把握し、一人一人が生きやすい社会になるためにはどのようにしていきたいかを主体的に考える。

It also aims to analyze social mechanisms such as why the controversy revolved around women despite also concerning men and wider society, and why controversy regarding women’s choice of life course continues even as the era and talking points change. Furthermore, through a reading of Chizuko Ueno’s 2019 Matriculation Ceremony Congratulatory Address at the University of Tokyo, this course will help students grasp social problems in Japan from the perspective of gender, and explore how we can take independent action to change society.

本授業では、教育に関連する基本的な諸概念を的確に踏まえるとともに、教育に関する理念や思想およびその歴史について、さらに現代日本にもつながる学校教育の歴史的な成り立ちについて概観する。その過程において、受講生各自の教育体験を振り返らせることによって、教育を支える諸要因とそれら相互の関係についての理解と確認を図る。授業は基本的には講義形式で進めるが、毎時受講生にワークを課して、授業の理解の定着と深化を図る。
In this class, we will provide an accurate understanding of basic concepts related to education, and will also provide an overview of the philosophy and thought behind education, its history, and the historical formation of school education, which is connected to modern Japan. In the process, by having students reflect on their educational experiences, we aim to understand and confirm the factors that support education and their mutual relationships. Classes are basically taught in a lecture format, but students are assigned to work every hour to help establish and deepen their understanding of the class.
