Introduction to Economic History

（1）誰が、何を、どれだけ、いつ、どのように生産して、消費するのか（資源配分の問題）と（2）人々のどのような動機付けによって資源配分が決まるのか（インセンティブの問題）に着目して歴史を考察するのが「経済史」である。すなわち、人類の経済活動の歴史とは、資源配分とインセンティブの問題を解決する過程に他ならない。ここで中心となる仕組みは制度と組織である。こうした視点をふまえながら、日本を主たる対象事例として時代や地域で異なる特殊性と共通する一般性を理解できるようになることを本講義の目標とする。
Economic history examines history by focusing on (1) who, what, how much, when, and how resources are produced and consumed (resource allocation problem) and (2) what motivates people to allocate resources (incentive problem). In other words, the history of human economic activity is nothing other than the process of solving the problems of resource allocation and incentives. The central mechanisms here are institutions and organizations. The goal of this lecture is to understand the generalities common to each period and region, as well as the particularities that differ from period to period, using the post-World War II period, which is directly related to the present day, as the main case study.

(1) By understanding the way of thinking of social science, be able to think analytically about social phenomena.
(2) It is possible to separate and analyze phenomena that differ from one era or region to another and those that are commonly found in the same era or region.
(3) To be able to understand human history from an economic aspect over a very long span of time.
(4) To be able to understand the essence of economics through the study of economic history.
教科書に即して授業が行われるが、必要に応じて、経済史の重要なトピックスも解説する。
