現在、科学や技術をめぐっては学部学生でも関心を持たなければならない課題が数多くあります。環境汚染などはその代表といえます。こうした課題を考えるにあたっては科学と技術の歴史を看過することができません。そこで本講義では、科学史を単なる発明発見物語のようなエピソード集として学ぶのではなく、現代的な諸課題と結びつけて考え、科学研究の意義と役割、さらには科学者の社会的責任について歴史を通じて学んでいけるようにします。より具体的には人類の発生からルネサンス期までの科学の歴史を学びます。
There are many subjects which relate science and technique such as environmental pollution. Students of University must study such kind of subjects. For this purpose, history of science and technique has important suggestion. In this lecture, history of science and technique is not treated episodes of discoveries and inventions. History is discussed with the relationship to modern subjects. Mentioning historical case, the significance and meaning of science research and scientists’social responsibility can be studied in this lecture. History from the origin of mankind to Renaissance period is treated as concrete cases.
中国は、日本にとって重要な経済パートナーであると同時に安全保障上の懸念材料でもある。また、中国は、国際的な影響力を強めている一方で、国内の不安定化という問題を抱えている。
なぜ、このような矛盾が生じるのか？
本講義は、日本の将来を考えるうえで無視することのできない存在である中国に焦点をあて、政治学の分析枠組みを用いて、その基本的特徴について考察することを主たる目的としている。言い換えれば、中国はどんな国かということについて政治学の視点から把握しようとする試みである。
講義では、国民国家やナショナリズムという分析枠組みに関する基本的な説明を踏まえ、中国の国家形態が皇帝専制国家から国民国家へと変容する過程および中華人民共和国における共産党の統治の在り方について論じる。19世紀末以降の日中関係について考察することも本講義の重要な目的の一つとなる。
This lecture focuses on the process of nation-state building in modern China. It will examine the transformation of the character of modern Chinese nationalism and analyze the political structure of the Chinese communist regime.
古代から近現代にいたる西洋美術を概観しながら、美術作品を通して、それが産み出された時代について探っていきたい。一般には、時代が芸術をつくりだすといわれることが多いが、ここでは芸術にこそもっともその時代の様相があらわれているという立場から講じていきたい。受講生は、美術作品が、その時代の美学、思想、宗教がどのように社会や文化の形成にかかわって行ったのかを学ぶことになる。
1回目のイントロダクションの授業において、講義のおおよその見取り図を示す。While surveying Western art from ancient times to modern times, I would like to explore the era in which it was produced through works of art. In general, it is often said that art is created by the times, but here I would like to speak from the standpoint that art is the most representative of the times. Students will learn how works of art influenced the formation of society and culture by the aesthetics, ideas, and religions of the time.
In the first introductory class, a rough sketch of the lecture will be shown.
本講義は、「都市」を通して、日本史の概要と特色を明らかにすることにある。「都市」とは一般に、人や物、情報が行き交う結節点であり、農村とは異なる景観をもつと考えられる。このような「都市」がなくては、そもそも国家が成り立たないことから、「都市」を考えることとは、国家や政治を考えることでもある。また、「都市」に暮らす人々の生き生きとした様子から、差別や自由といった歴史の深層を探り当てることもできる。このように、多面的な魅力を持つ「都市」ではあるが、そもそも「都市」とは何かを問うこと自体、研究史上の論点でもあった。これらの点をふまえつつ、具体的な歴史資料を通して、歴史的に「都市」を学ぶことの意義を論じていくこととする。

本講義では、「人物」を通して、日本史の概要や特色を学ぶことを目的とする。「人物」をとりあげることによって、ある人物の判断が歴史を動かす場面を目の当たりにしたり、市井の人物の人生が、歴史の変動によって翻弄される場面を目撃することになる。人が歴史をつくり、歴史によって人がつくられる点を現代の私たちが実感しつつ、あわせて「人物」から歴史を学ぶことの意義も考えたい。
