メディア・ミックスとは、複数の媒体を組み合わせて展開する広告戦略や、小説やマンガ、ゲームなどのコンテンツを異なるメディアへと展開させる手法の事を指す。現在の日本では恒常的にメディア・ミックスが行われているが、実は江戸時代からこうした手法は行われてきた。本講義では、日本のメディア・ミックスの歴史について江戸時代から現代までの流れについて学び、日本学研究のための多角的な視点を養う。
Media mix refers to an advertising strategy that combines multiple media, or a method of developing content such as novels, manga, and games across different media platforms. In Japan today, media mix has been a regular practice, but in fact, it has been practiced since the Edo period (1603-1868). In this class, students will learn about the history of media mix in Japan from the Edo period to the present, and develop a multifaceted perspective for Japanese Studies.
アダプテーションとは、もとにある作品を異なる形に移し替えて新たな作品を作ることを指す。日本におけるアダプテーションの歴史は古く、現代に至るまで盛んに行われている。この授業では、日本におけるアダプテーションの歴史を踏まえたうえで、主に近世後期から近現代におけるアダプテーション作品を取り上げて受講生の興味関心に従い論じる。作品の分析を通して日本文化の特性を学ぶとともに、その作品が生まれたそれぞれの時代背景について理解することを目的とする。
Adaptation refers to the process of creating a new work by transferring the original work into a different form. Adaptation in Japan has a long history and has been actively practiced up to the present day. In this class, based on the history of adaptation in Japan, we will discuss adaptation works mainly from the late modern period to the modern period according to the interests of the students. Through the analysis of these works, students will learn about the characteristics of Japanese culture and gain an understanding of the historical backgrounds in which these works were created.
This course focuses on the history of popular culture in modern and contemporary Japan (from Edo to the early 2000s): its main media forms, genres, and practices. It aims to describe multiple phenomena that have shaped cultural production and consumption patterns in Japan, as well as various media and artifacts now known worldwide. Beyond the main topic of the course, described above, students will get a better grasp of popular culture in general and understand the main factors and powers involved of its development. The assignments introducing various samples of academic writing on the Japanese popular culture will allow students to discover new lines of inquiry potentially applicable in their postgraduate research.
本授業は江戸時代初期から2000年代までの期間に焦点を絞り、日本のポピュラー･カルチャーの進展を辿っている。日本における創造生産の特徴、人気のあるコンテンツの種類及び典型的な消費パターンを紹介し、それを形成した要素を学生に考察させる。それによって日本のポピュラー･カルチャーの概要だけでなく、大衆文化の根本的な原理の理解が成立することが期待される。さらに、皆さんが講義と課題によって日本のポピュラー・カルチャーをめぐる研究と接触し、これから自分の研究において活用できる観点や考え方を見つけたらありがたく思う。
日本における探偵小説の成立と展開を明治から今日に至るまで通史的に辿る。大衆文学／純文学の線引きと再編の過程における探偵小説というジャンルの形成要件、探偵小説の形式化・理論化に伴う諸問題、隣接する諸ジャンルや視覚メディアとの相互交渉などを視野に収めながら、新興ジャンルとしてのミステリの様相を多角的に検討する。
In this course, students will trace the generation and development of detective novels in Japan from the postwar period to the present day. Focusing on the role of detective novels in the process of reorganization of popular literature and pure literature, problems associated with the theorizing of detective novels, and mutual negotiations with other genres, students will examine the aspect of mystery as an emerging genre from various angles.

本講は前期に引き続き、東アジアにおける文化の総決算ともいえる江戸時代に焦点を絞り、その広範な文化的背景を解きほぐしつつ、主要な美術作品の諸様相について概観していく。「絵画」のみではなく、諸工芸についても言及し、東アジアのなかの日本という観点から、中国大陸や朝鮮半島からの影響と日本の独自性についても考える。
