『源氏物語』現五十四帖がいかにして構成されているか、成立の問題、巻序の問題をはじめ、散逸した巻巻（「桜人」「狭筵」「巣守」さらには「輝く日の宮」）についての『源氏釈』『奥入』等の記述を検証する。「輝く日の宮」の巻は存在したのか。また、定家本・河内本成立の過程と意義、別本の価値をも含めた諸本（写本群）についても考察する。『源氏物語』の初期の注釈書や梗概書、系図等にも目配りし、『山路の露』『雲隠六帖』といった補作、さらには平安〜鎌倉・室町時代の物語作品における『源氏物語』受容の痕跡をも手がかりとして、平安から中世にかけて、どのような『源氏物語』テクストが流通していたのかを探る。その際、古筆切等、新発見の資料にも目配りしたい。文字テクスト以外に、院政期の『源氏物語絵巻』を、詞書とともにDVDで鑑賞する。復元プロジェクトによって、平安絵師の仕掛けた謎が現代に明らかとなるのか──。
このような検証、思考を通して、広く「〈源氏物語〉とは何か」、を考えていくことを目的とする。
We will examine how the "Genji Monogatari" is composed, the problem of establishment, the problem of the volume, and the description of the old commentary on the dissipated volume.
Furthermore, we will explore what kind of "Genji Monogatari" texts were in circulation from the Heian period to the Middle Ages, using supplementary works such as "Yamaji no Tsuyu" (sequel of The Tale of Genji) and Kumogakure Rokujo (Genji's demise: six chapters). In addition, we will watch "Genji Monogatari Emaki" on DVD.
Through such verification and thinking, we will think about "what is the Genji story".
日本の物語文学はいつ発生し、いつ終息したのか──。本講義では『源氏物語』に代表される王朝物語文学の成立と展開の様相を、物語文学を取り巻く様々な文芸ジャンルとの相関のもとに、種々の作品テクストを取り上げつつ探っていく。王朝物語の時代は平安から室町と長きにわたるが、とりわけ王朝物語という文芸ジャンルが物語作者の存在意義とも絡んで取り沙汰されるようになる院政期から鎌倉中期を中心に、散逸した物語の資料をも重要な手がかりとしながら、物語文学というコンテンツの消長を探っていく。
When did Japanese narrative literature emerge and when did it end? This lecture will explore the development of the Ōchō Monogatari (tales from the Heian and Kamakura periods), such as the Tale of Genji, by examining various texts of the works, in relation to various literary genres surrounding narrative literature. The era of the dynasty tales extends from Heian to Muromachi. This lecture also explore the fate of narrative literature, using lost stories as clues.

室生犀星の王朝小説を原典の古典作品と読み比べることで、古典文学の世界を近代小説の翻案を通して学ぶ。授業の進め方としては、各回に指定されている犀星の王朝小説と原典となっている古典作品をあらかじめ精読し、教室では読書会形式をとることで、鑑賞を交えた批評を自由に述べてディスカッションしていく。教員はモデレーター役を務めるが、受講生全員が意見を述べ応答し合うインタラクティブな場を作り、継続的なテーマを発見していくことを目指す。
Students will learn the world of classical literature through adaptations of modern novels by reading and comparing Murou Saisei's dynasty novel with the classic works of the original text. As for how to proceed with the class, carefully read Saisei's dynasty novel designated for each lesson and the classic works that are the original texts in advance, and take the form of a reading party in the classroom to freely state and discuss criticisms including appreciation. The faculty will act as a moderator, but the aim is to create an interactive place where all the students can express their opinions and respond to each other, and discover continuous themes.
古代中世の仏教思想と美術の関係を考える上で重要な絵巻物を取り上げ、詞書きを精読する。そのことを通して、絵画表現に込められた意味を読み取ることに努める。対象は主に寺社縁起・祖師絵伝とし、候補作品には、「石山寺縁起」七巻、「法然上人絵伝」四十八巻、「春日権現験記絵」二十巻、「彦火々出見尊絵巻」六巻、「華厳宗祖師絵伝（華厳縁起）」（元暁絵三巻・義湘絵四巻）、「慕帰絵詞」十巻、「桑実寺縁起」上・下巻、「釈迦堂縁起絵巻」全六巻、「酒伝童子絵巻」上・中・下巻がある。
Students take up the picture scrolls important for considering the relationship between ancient medieval Buddhist thought and art, and carefully read the captions (narrative texts). Through that, students try to read the meaning contained in the painting expression. The object of the study is mainly the picture scrolls of "Jisha-engi" and "Sosi-eden".

In applied ethics, we must examine "how we should act" while learning not only theory but also the reality of the field where ethical conflicts are arising. This course highlights one of the most controversial topics of our time, gender/sexuality, and promotes ethical reflection while studying the historical context and social structure behind social conflicts. The course will not only focus on knowledge of ethics in the narrow sense, but will also refer to findings from sociology, psychology, history and other disciplines.
This lecture will be based on case studies. I will also deal with sensitive topics, so please be sure to check the content and make a careful decision before attending the course.
平安時代末の内乱とそこに生きる人々の姿を多様な形質の表現によって描き出した作品、『平家物語』の記述を考察する。『平家物語』の表現を丁寧に読み解き、文学、文化、社会にかかわる多様な問題を見出す中で、『平家物語』の特質とともに、そこに現れる世界観、人間観、社会認識のあり方を明らかにして行く。毎回の授業の終わりに、授業内容について、考えたこと、関心を持ったことを書いてもらい（これを「小レポート」と呼ぶ）、その回答も交えて、できるだけ対話的に授業を進めて行こうと思っている。
In this lecture, you will understand the characteristics of the description of “the Tale of Heike （平家物語 Heike Monogatari）”. And you will consider various significant problems of literature and culture through reading the original of this classical tale.
・フランス象徴主義の作家ヴィリエ・ド・リラダンの長篇小説『未来のイヴ』（1886）を日本語訳で読みます。美しい容姿をもつ恋人の俗物的な内面に絶望した青年に、エジソンが同じ容姿と高貴な魂を備えた人造人間を提供しようと申し出る、という物語を、19世紀終盤における科学技術、哲学、身体観、精神医学、心霊主義などを踏まえながら、できる限り丁寧に読み進めます。同時代の思想的背景について学びつつ、古典としての本作品を今日の高度メディア社会、ポストヒューマン論を念頭において読むことの意義も考えます。
・毎週の指定範囲（60-70頁程度）を精読していくのは一定の努力を必要としますが、読んだテクストの印象について授業の仲間と意見を交換する面白さを味わいましょう。
