本講義では現代日本学の前提的な知識を提示することによって、日本学という研究領野への導入を行う。日本学は日本という地域を多角的に考察する学問であるため、その対象や研究方法もきわめて多様であり、本講義では種々の方法論を提示する。また東北大学という機関における学的資源を活かした日本学の可能性を考える見地から、学内および大学周辺におけるフィールドワークを行う。
This course covers the basic knowege of Inovative Japanese Studies to help students understand the characteristics of Japasese Studies. Japasese Studies is a discipline which think about Japan from various points of view. So in this course, the lecturer introduces some methods.

In this class, we will do a close reading of articles related to Innovative Japanese studies. In this course, we will examine a variety of subjects and methodologies. Students will give at least one oral presentation during the semester.

本授業では、日本学の〈古典〉とされる様々な文献を講読し、日本学の歴史的な系譜を確認する。現在において日本学を考究することの可能性と困難さを考える。毎回発表者を立ててテキストを精読し、議論を行う。参加者には事前にテキストを熟読することが求められる。
In this course, we will read various documents considered to be 'classics' of Japanese studies and identify the historical genealogy of Japanese studies. The possibilities and difficulties of examining Japanese studies in the present day will be considered. Each time, a presenter will be appointed to read and discuss the texts. Participants are expected to read the texts in advance.
日本学の方法を多面的・総合的にとらえ、日本学研究の視座をもつ。まず、日本学諸分野からの方法の提示がおこなわれる。そして、それをもとにして、日本学の研究資料を総覧する。日本学諸分野からの多面的・総合的な提示によって、日本学研究の対象・資料の概要をつかむ。研究資料についての提示にあたっては、附属図書館等に所蔵される原典もとりあげる。
In this course, students will understand Japanese studies from many angles and have a perspective on Japanese studies. First, research methods from various fields of Japanese studies are presented. Next, you will be presented with research materials on Japanese studies.This class is an omnibus lecture series.
日本語は、われわれのもっとも身近にある言語である。とはいえ、実際にはわからないこともさまざまにある。その日本語とはどのような言語であるのか、また、その日本語はどのように運用されているのか。そのような課題に答えるのが、日本語学という学問分野である。ここでは、この日本語学の考え方にもとづいて、現代日本語をさまざまな側面から考えてみる。まず、はじめに日本語学の考え方や分野について概説する。その後、日本語についての調査・分析を参加者自身がおこなっていく。日本語の方言を含むさまざまな日本語についての考察、現代日本語の具体的な運用についての考察をすすめ、報告、議論をおこなう。
This course deals with the basic issues of Japanese linguistics and how they have been treated in the field of linguistics. You’ll get an introduction to the main approaches used in linguistic research, including linguistic structure, phonetics, dialects, history, and discourse analysis. You’ll apply the key methods used in linguistic descriptions to the analysis of your language, and discuss them with your classmates.
