In this course, students will learn the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes that are needed to create their own careers, by viewing careers as a lifelong process of continuous learning and action. These basic knowledge, skills and attitudes are necessary not only for students considering employment after graduate study, but also for those who wish to pursue a research career.
The course will promote students to: (1) learn from guest speakers with a variety of cultural, educational and professional backgrounds in order to gain knowledge and information that will be useful in shaping their own career perspectives; (2) engage in collaborative learning with other students in order to understand the significance of working together; and (3) review the results of their learning by providing presentations and writing reports in order to reflect the results of their studies, set career goals, and take concrete action. Students are facilitated to actively interact with others by speaking and listening to each other and lead discussions to form a learning community.
Guest speakers will include leading global figures from different fields and ways of working. This course will be conducted in English. A certain level of skill in interacting and discussing in English is required.

この授業では、仙台地域の施設見学や協働作業をとおして、大学では出会う機会の少ない人々と交流をもつことで、現在の日本社会の現状や課題について知り、視野を広げ、個々が国際社会の一員として何ができるのかを考えます。
前半部分は、東日本大震災の経験ややさしい日本語、仙台地域が抱える社会的課題について学びます。後半部分は、実践として、「東日本大震災後のコミュニティ再生プロジェクトへの参加」、「子ども食堂での活動」を行います。最後に活動報告としてグループ発表を行い、持続可能なコミュニティ作りへの提案を行います。
この授業は、国内学生と留学生が日本語を使い学習を行います。さまざまな国・地域の履修生だけでなく仙台地域の人々と交流を行うことで、コミュニケーション能力、協働する能力などを身につけます。
In this class, through visits to Sendai area facilities and collaborative work, students will interact with people they would rarely have the opportunity to meet at university, learn about the current state of Japanese society and its issues, broaden their perspectives, and consider what they can do as members of the international community.
The first half of the course will focus on the experience of the Great East Japan Earthquake, easy Japanese, and social issues facing the Sendai area.
In the latter half of the course, the students will participate in a "community revitalization project after the Great East Japan Earthquake" and "activities at a children's cafeteria" as practical examples of their activities. Finally, group presentations will be given as activity reports and proposals for building sustainable communities will be made.
In this class, domestic and international students study together in Japanese. By interacting with students from various backgrounds, students will acquire communication and collaboration skills.
この授業では、主に日本の発酵食品と仙台味噌について学び、仙台味噌の海外展開について検討します。前半部分では、発酵食品について、日本や海外の料理・調味料を紹介しあいます。後半部分では、仙台味噌についてのゲストスピーカーによる講義や工場見学を通じて知識を得、仙台味噌を履修している留学生の出身国・地域の人に広めるためのレシピの開発や販売方法について提案します。

In this class, students will learn mainly about Japanese fermented foods and Sendai miso, and discuss the overseas expansion of Sendai miso. In the first part, students will introduce each other about fermented Japanese and international cuisines and seasonings. In the latter part, students will gain knowledge about Sendai miso through lectures by guest speakers and factory tours, and make suggestions on how to develop recipes and market Sendai miso to promote it to people in the countries and regions where the international students taking the course are from.
In this class, domestic and international students study together in Japanese. By interacting with students from various backgrounds, students will acquire communication and collaboration skills.

Life career is the trajectory of each role of a life role throughout your life. University life is the starting point for your life career. What you learn, experience, and the people you meet throughout your student life will have an impact on your subsequent life career. People who are currently active on the front lines of society have, like you, encountered and learned a great deal during their time as students, and have accumulated a variety of experiences as members of society.
Through lectures and cooperative learning, we invite people with such diverse backgrounds as guest speakers to deepen your understanding of the various jobs and choices available in society, to help you plan your future independently, and to help you make the most of your student life. The schedule of guest speakers is subject to change, so please check the schedule at the first class.
In this class students will develop an understanding of intercultural communication studies and through group work and workshops recognize the complications and difficulties that arise in communication. Theatrical workshops by Rengyo sensei (professional writer, director, actor) and other guest speakers , and tasks of creating performances and discussions with classmates will be given in the class, and students will gain experiences in intercultural communication and resolving problems. During the fall/winter semester students will focus on problems regarding language communication which arise in intercultural situations.
この授業では、言語コミュニケーションの基本的概念を理解し、授業中のワークショップやグループワークやディスカッションを通して、コミュニケーションの複雑さ・難しさへの認識を深める。そのため、受講生同士のディスカッションや、蓮行講師（脚本家・演出家・俳優）およびゲスト講師による演劇ワークショップを行う。そして最終的に、パフォーマンス創作課題が与えられ、その中で受講生同士の異文化コミュニケーションを実際に体験する。秋・冬学期では、言語・非言語コミュニケーションに焦点を当て、異文化コミュニケーションの際に起こる問題を考察していく。
本科目は東北大学グローバル人材育成プログラム（以下、TGLプログラム）に参加する学生のための必須科目である。学生が自ら情報収集、ディスカッション、プレゼンテーション等を行う学習者主体の参加型授業を通して、TGLプログラムのコア能力のうちのコミュニケーション力、国際教養力、行動力の向上を目指す。最終的には、グローバル社会で活躍できる人材となるために、国際社会にある様々な課題を自分事としてとらえ、自ら情報収集し、課題解決に向けた目標や計画を設定し、形（アウトプット）として示していくための意識改革・動機付けをすることを目的としている。授業は基本的に日本語でおこない、授業内容により英語を補助的に使うことがある。
This course is an essential subject for the Global Leader Certificate of the Tohoku University Global Leadership (TGL) Program. The course, through active learning, aims at enhancing the student’s knowledge of intercultural communication and understanding, and skills in planning and presentation. Eventually, this course is intended to boost the student’s global leadership, including global perspectives, goal-oriented mindset and self-management/planning skills, in order to achieve their targeted goals. This course will be conducted in Japanese basically, with English used as a supplement depending on the content of the classes.
In this class students will develop an understanding of intercultural communication studies and through group work, group discussion and workshops recognize the complications and difficulties that arise in communication. Theatrical workshops by Rengyo sensei (professional writer, director, actor) and other guest speakers, and tasks of creating performances and discussions with classmates will be given in the class, and you will gain real experiences in intercultural communication, considering ways to resolve problems. During the spring semester students will focus on problems in intercultural relationships that can be compared with our own personal networks. At the end of the class this will be demonstrated in performances. In the process of creating a performance students will think comprehensively about skills for communication.
Students who participate in this class as graduate students are expected to acquire the ability to design intercultural communication as a facilitator by observing communication in the classroom at a meta-level and facilitating interactions among participants in group work and workshops.
