世界の食料・農業情勢を踏まえつつ、SDGsをめぐる食料・農業問題の所在を把握します。また、種々の国際機関の動向や世界の主要国の農業政策に関して検証し、日本農業をめぐる国際環境と今後の進むべき方向について考察します。
This lecture gives an outline of global food and agricultural production system towards the SDGs as well as current agricultural trends in Japan and the World. And it gives careful consideration to agricultural policies in major industrial countries and international fora in order to examine the surrounding international circumstances and the direction that the Japanese agriculture should move towards.

産業革命以来，世界人口は急増したが，それに見合う食糧生産が行われてきた．しかしながら，環境保全的産業と考えられてきた農業も経済性を重視するあまり，化学化，機械化が進行し，地球環境に大きな負荷を与えている．そこで，世界人口の増加に起因する食糧問題と環境問題を克服するための方策として，環境と調和した農業のための土壌管理，栽培管理について，最新の知見を講義する．また，それぞれのトピックについて講義出席者全員で討議し，その実態理解と問題解決法について検討する．
Since the Industrial Revolution, the world population has increased rapidly, and food production has been commensurate with it. However, agriculture, which has been regarded as an environment-friendly industry, puts heavy burdens on the global environment, because of drastic chemicalization and mechanization to improve efficiency. In this course, the latest knowledge on soil and crop managements suitable for the environment, as a measure to overcome food and environmental problems caused by the increase in world population, is lectured. Each topic is discussed by all students to understand the problems and to explore the measures against them.

Agricultural policies and systems around the world are diverse. In this class, it is compared the policies and systems of major advanced agricultural countries and explained the characteristics of agricultural management under them.
持続可能性をキーワードとして21世紀の農学が挑戦する課題について学びます。授業では主にグループワークを行います。グループごとに、①食料、②資源・環境、③技術革新、④地域社会のうちから具体的なテーマを設定します。農業政策やその政策手段（財政など）を中心に、グループ内でディスカッションを重ねながらプレゼンテーション資料を作成します。最後に発表会を行います。
授業は、8月26日～28日の3日間の集中講義で行います。
The object of class is to learn about issues of agriculture in the 21st century from the sustainability perspective. The class mainly involves group work. Each group selects a specific theme from the following: (1) food, (2) resource and environment, (3) technological innovation, and (4) local community. Each group does group work and make presentation materials, focusing on agricultural policy and policy measures (such as budgetary measures). At the end of the class, each group presents results.
The Class will be held for 3 days from August 26th to 28th.
近年，地球環境は危機的状況にある。農業分野でも環境問題が顕在化し，生産の持続性が危惧されている。本講義では，草地における草食家畜生産を対象に，農業分野における環境問題の現状を把握し，生態学的見地から持続的食料生産にむけての展望と，環境保全的観点から農業生態系の位置付けについて理解を深める。
Recently, global environment is in peril. Environmental problems are raising in agricultural fields, and sustainable food production systems are deteriorating. In this course, students learn about actual situation of environmental problems in grasslands, focusing on herbivore animal production. Students also deepen understanding on prospect for sustainable food production from the aspect of ecology, and poisitioning of agricultural ecosystems in term of environmental conservation.
This course will cover food and agriculture issues and a variety of its policy design. After lectures on agriculture and food production in Japan and the discussion related to policy issues, we will share current situations and problems of production and consumption in food and agricuclture sector over the countries of participants.
農業は、人類の文明とともに古い歴史を持っている。本講義は、原始から現代に至る日本列島上における農業の歩みを、農業技術と社会構造との相互規定的な関係性に留意しながら概観することを目的とする。過去の農業の姿について具体的なイメージを作るため、出来る限り図画・映像資料等を盛り込む予定である。
討論の時間を各回の最後に15分ほど取るので、受講生からの積極的な発言・討論を期待したい。
Agriculture has along history. In this course, student will understand the origin of agriculture and learn about Japanese agriculture has undergone, based on historical background, using visual materials.
This is a lecture-centered course, however, in every class, we will have a discussion time in the last 15 minutes to the end. Positive participation in classes is expected.
