前半（ 担当：作物学, 生物制御機能学, 植物遺伝育種学, 栽培植物環境科学) と後半（担当：土壌立地学, 環境適応生物工学, 生物共生科学, 園芸学, 植物病理学)それぞれの分野に所属し、対面式またはオンラインで行う（どちらで行うかは分野ごとに異なる。事前に通知する。)前半と後半の担当分野は交代することがあります。
科学論文とは、実験や観察により得られたデータの科学的重要性を第三者が見て理解できるように書かれる。従って文学作品とは異なる比較的平易な文章を用いて明確な論理展開がなされる。通常国際社会に向けた情報発信は英語が使われており、英文の論文を読み、その情報を正確に理解することは研究者にとって必須の技術である。
本講義では、論文が掲載されるまでのプロセスや論文がどのようなセクションによって構成されているのか、また自分に必要な論文や情報をどのように検索するかについて理解するとともに、具体的に英語論文を読んでその内容を理解してまとめることにより、科学英語論文の講読法について学ぶ。

本科目では、特に「沿岸域」と呼ばれる海洋環境と、そこを特徴づける多様な生態系および生物群集に焦点を当て、現代の海洋生態学を解釈する上で必要な知識や方法論を習得する。講義では沿岸域を構成する様々なタイプのハビタット（例：大陸棚、サンゴ礁、マングローブ林、河口域、干潟、岩礁域等）を概観し、沿岸生態系の構造や機能、生物群集の適合、持続可能な沿岸資源管理に関する争点等を体系立てて学習する。
This class introduces the fundamentals of marine biology by examining the vibrant life in the oceans with particular reference to the coastal ecosystems. Students will study a range of coastal habitats including shelf seas, coral reefs, mangroves, estuaries and various shore types. This class covers a diverse set of topics ranging from structure and functioning of different coastal ecosystems, through adaptations of organisms for their particular living conditions, to issues relating to the sustainable management of marine coastal resources.
Students will learn how to publish academic papers as well as read papers on agricultural
economics, environmental economics, development economics and field socio-technical studies,
as well as reports from international organizations and will develop their reading presentation
and communication skills in English in the field of economics by reporting and discussing the
