昨今の医療を取り巻く環境は、少子高齢化時代を迎えて、急速な医療資源の減少に直面している。医療資源である医療費、特にその大きな比率を占める医薬品費の効率的運用は、国是とまでなっており、急性期医療の入院を対象に2003年から診断群分類包括評価（DPC/PDPS）が大学病院などの特定機能病院に導入され、現在では高度な薬物治療を行う急性期病床の半分以上を占める。しかし、患者取り違えの医療事故に端を発した医療安全を含めた医療の質の向上もまた同時に、医療現場は求められている。医薬品においても例外ではなく、医薬品適正使用は勿論、医療安全、感染対策、ハイリスク薬対策、治験、医療経営まで、幅広い対応が必要不可欠となる。
臨床調剤学では、主に病院薬剤部内で行なわれる、（狭義の）調剤、薬品管理等の基本的な業務を紹介するとともに、薬剤管理指導業務(服薬指導を含む)などのファーマシューティカルケアに基づいた業務、また、2012年診療報酬改定により導入された「病棟薬剤業務実施加算」とその業務の概要、さらには発展的な臨床研究業務や病院経営を含む病院管理業務まで、大学病院薬剤部等における実例を挙げながら学習する。

本特論では、病態の理解、実践的薬物治療計画及びアウトカムの評価、病態の知識に基づく創薬への貢献および市販後における評価、医薬品情報の評価、医薬品の適正使用、先導的専門性を有する薬剤師による医療サービスの実践・マネジメント例を学ぶ。更に疾病・病態の理解に基づいた最新の診断分析方法と個別化薬物療法を理解し、将来の医療薬学のあり方について考察を求め演習する。／Objectives and summary ofclass In this course, students learn pathology, practical pharmacotherapy planning and outcome evaluation, contribution based onpathological knowledge to drug discovery, post-marketing evaluation, evaluation for drug information, proper medication use and, practiceof medical care and disease management.
