目的：日本の建築・都市の歴史をさまざまな観点から理解する。
概要：私たちをとりまく都市・建築は、どのようにつくられ、使われ、意味を帯びてきたのか。この講義では、古代から近代以前における日本建築の歴史を考える。そのさい、建造物の意匠や空間、構造、さらにはそれらをつくりだした理念や社会背景など、様々な視点から多角的に、かつ東アジアとの文化的な対外交渉関係をふまえながら検討してゆく。
達成目標等：日本建築の歴史的変遷を理解し、文化の特質について考える。

This lecture aims to understand the history of Japanese architecture from various viewpoints.
The primary goal of this lecture is to review Japanese architecture from Ancient Times to the Modern age from various viewpoints such as design, technique, idea, and social background based on a cultural relation with East Asia.

建築史学では、建築の形式や技法にくわえ、意匠や機能、背景となる社会や文化までも問う。仏堂を例に取ってみても、空間を構成する柱や梁による架構はもちろん、堂内に奉られる仏像、堂内で行われる儀礼、まわりを荘厳する絵画、全体を包括する仏教理念、仏堂を経営する檀越や僧侶たちの政治や思惑など、解くべき問題は多岐にわたる。いわば建築史学とは、建築を通してさまざまな世界像を認識・解釈するための学問体系であるといっても過言ではない。では、その方法はどのようなものか。
本講義では、建築史学の方法論や、建築をめぐる世界像の枠組みについて、既往研究論文などを取り上げながら検討する。

Architectural history examines the form and technique of architecture and the design, function, and background of society and culture. Even taking a Buddhist temple as an example, there is a wide range of questions to be answered, including not only the pillars and beams that make up the space but also the statues of Buddha that are dedicated inside the temple, the rituals that take place inside the temple, the paintings that solemnize the surroundings, the Buddhist philosophy that encompasses the entire temple, and the politics and intentions of the monks and Buddhist priests who run the temple. In a sense, it is no exaggeration to say that architectural history is an academic system for recognizing and interpreting various images of the world through architecture. So, what is the method of doing so?
This lecture will examine the methodology of architectural historiography and the framework of the world image surrounding architecture, taking up previous research papers.

１．目的：将来の土木構造物のあり方を考える基礎的教養として，土木技術や土木構造物は何を目指し，どの様に発展してきたのか，そして，それを創ったエンジニアはどの様に生きたか．その経緯と歴史的背景を通じ，土木構造物の現在と，技術者倫理を踏まえた目標とすべき技術者像に示唆を与える．
２．概要：土木技術や土木構造物の発展過程を様々な事例を元に，社会的背景や技術的背景と，それをなしえた技術者像とを追う．前半は世界土木史，後半は日本土木史を中心に講義する．また，後半は技術・思想・技術者を中心に倫理も含め解説する．
３．達成目標等：この授業では，以下のような能力を修得することを目標とする．
・土木の歴史を通じて，現代の土木技術，設計思想に対する洞察力を養う．

1. Objective:
As a basic education to consider the future of civil engineering structures, what are the goals of civil engineering technology and civil engineering structures, how have they developed, and how did the engineers who created them live? Through the history and historical background of civil engineering, the present state of civil engineering structures and the image of engineers that we should aim for based on engineering ethics will be suggested.
2. Outline:
This book traces the development process of civil engineering technology and civil engineering structures based on various case studies, the social and technological backgrounds, and the image of engineers who were able to achieve them. The first half of the lecture focuses on the history of world civil engineering, and the second half on the history of Japanese civil engineering. The second half of the lecture will focus on technology, thought, and engineers, including ethics.
3.Goal of study:
In this course, students will acquire the following skills.
To develop insight into modern civil engineering technologies and design concepts through the history of civil engineering.
To understand the historical development process of civil engineering, and to develop the ability to understand the value of historical civil engineering structures.

However, even though the land of Yomi described in the Nihon Shoki（Chronicle of Japan completed in 720） and the Pure Land described by medieval Buddhist monks are the same afterlife, their characteristics are very different. How have another worlds and afterlife changed over the course of history for the Japanese people? In this course, we will use ancient and medieval Buddhist tales as material to explore the transformation of the idea of another worlds and afterlife, and further examine its historical background.

本講義は、「都市」を通して、日本史の概要と特色を明らかにすることにある。「都市」とは一般に、人や物、情報が行き交う結節点であり、農村とは異なる景観をもつと考えられる。このような「都市」がなくては、そもそも国家が成り立たないことから、「都市」を考えることとは、国家や政治を考えることでもある。また、「都市」に暮らす人々の生き生きとした様子から、差別や自由といった歴史の深層を探り当てることもできる。このように、多面的な魅力を持つ「都市」ではあるが、そもそも「都市」とは何かを問うこと自体、研究史上の論点でもあった。これらの点をふまえつつ、具体的な歴史資料を通して、歴史的に「都市」を学ぶことの意義を論じていくこととする。
