This course is the second part of the two-semester sequence to introduce students to geophysical experiments and observations. This course covers a variety of modern and historical experiments and observations, focusing on experimental design and techniques, data acquisition and analysis, scientific communication, and time management. In this part, students perform practical training in the measurement of temporally and/or spatially varying phenomena, learn basic analysis methods for temporally and/or spatially varying data, and consider and discuss physical processes behind the obtained data.
Electromagnetism overturned the common sense of classical mechanics and became the cornerstone toward modern physics.
The purpose of this lecture is to understand its essence.
In electromagnetism I, the physics of static electric and magnetic fields "without time variations" is introduced.
"Electric field" is treated in the first half.
"Current" and "Magnetic field" appear in the second half.
In this world, both fields are independent yet.
