言語教育におけるテストは、言語学習者の熟達度や到達度を測定することだけではなく、学習と教育を強化するための手段として大きな役割を担っています。この授業では、主に英語教育に焦点を置き、言語テスティングと評価の基本的理論を学び、主に2つの実践を行います。１つ目は、言語教育におけるテストの役割、言語能力、テストの有用性を理解した上でテスト作成を行い、テストの妥当性と実用性を測定する方法を学びます。２つ目は、テストの評価方法、テスト結果の分析方法・活用方法を学びます。
Tests in language education measure not only proficiency and achievement of language learners but also play a major role of strengthening learning and education. In this class, focusing mainly on English education, students will learn the basic theory of language testing and assessment, and practice two main things as below: First, they will develop a test with carefully considering the role of the test in Foreign language education, language use, and test usefulness, then learn how to measure the validity and practicality of a test. Second, students will learn how to assess the test and analyze/utilize the test results.

主として計量的な心理学の方法論として幅広く使われている質問紙法や検査法，記述式のテスト，小論文，面接試験等，主観的な評価を伴う測定法を用いた尺度を開発・自作する際の技術に関わる理論的背景について学ぶ。同時に，心理検査等，心理学的測定に関わる結果を評価するための理論について，その基礎的な概念を学ぶ。信頼性，妥当性といった概念の基礎となる古典的テスト理論とその発展形である一般可能性理論，さらに探索的因子分析を中心に測定法の基礎を学ぶ。
This course mainly target to learn about the theoretical background related to psychological measurement such as quesstionnaires, psychological testing, open-ended questions, essay, interview and so on. The measurement theory is also useful for evaluating the results obtained by those techniques. We approcach Classical Test Theory, that is the basis of commonly used concept 'validity' and 'reliability'. After that, we might try Generalized Theory which is the evolutional theory of CTT or the basis of Exploratory Factor Analysis.

周囲の情報、例えばある対象（モノ）を見た時に、わたしたちは色、形、大きさといった情報をバラバラでなく統合して、それが何であるかと認知します。統合的な情報には「質感」という情報があります。「質感」は、例えば光沢のあるもの、表面紋理があるもの、硬そう、重たそう、触ってみたい、触りたくない、といった自分の感情や選択にも影響する情報です。また人は「ピカピカ」「フワフワ」といったオノマトペを用いるなどして言語化します。今回の演習では、皆さんが普段はほぼ無意識に認知して生きている、多様な「質感認知」について学び、体験し、言語化し、外界に対する認知の仕組みについて共に考えていきます。

For example, seeing an object, we recognize what it is by integrating information such as color, shape, and size. Integrated information includes "texture" information. Texture is information that influences our feelings and choices, such as whether something is shiny, has a surface pattern, looks hard or heavy, and whether we want to touch it or not. People also use onomatopoeia, such as "shiny (pikapika in Japanese)" and "fluffy (fuwafuwa in Japanese)," to this information. In this lectures and practices, you will learn about, experience, and verbalize various "texture cognition" that you usually live with almost unconsciously. Let's think together about the mechanism of cognition toward the external world.
この講義では，教育・心理学に必要となる統計学の基礎について学ぶ。レベルは初等統計であり，数学的な準備としては高校文科系程度のものがあればよい。学部科目「統計的学習論講義」へ接続する。
This course deals with the basic concept of educational and psychological statistics. The level of this course is introductory statistics, and knowledge of elementary mathematics in high school is required to take this class.
外国語教育における実証研究は、研究デザインから分析結果の報告に至るまで科学的な手法に沿って行われます。そして実証研究論文では、実験方法、実験参加者、実験手続きなどの詳細を研究結果とともに詳しく報告する必要があります。この授業では、外国語教員を目指す学生だけではなく言語学分野における実証研究を行うことを予定している学生を対象に、実証研究を行う上での基本的な知識を習得した上で、研究デザインの作成、データの分析、結果の報告のし方を学びます。
Empirical research in foreign language education follows scientific methods, from research design to data collection, to reporting the results of the analysis. When producing an empirical research paper, the researcher should elaborate the rationale, the methodology including instrumentation, sampling, data collection, and data analysis. In this course, students who plan to conduct empirical research in the field of linguistics as well as students aiming to become foreign language teachers will learn how to design the research, analyze data, and report the results after acquiring basic knowledge for conducting empirical research.
