現地調査とそれに基づく民族誌の記述は、文化人類学の最も基本的な研究方法である。この授業では、調査の目的の設定や組み立て方を含めた様々な技術・方法を学習し、さらに実地に試行することを通して体験的に習得することを目標とする。前期は主として調査方法と資料の種類や性質を検討し、各自の関心に即した調査計画を立案する。
Fieldwork and ethnographic writing based on field research are the most basic research methods in cultural anthropology. In this class, we will discuss various techniques and methods, including how to set and construct the objectives of fieldwork and acquire them experientially through actual trials. In the first semester, we will discuss research methods and the types and characteristics of materials and make a research plan according to our own interests.

In this semester, students will conduct research based on their own research plans, and complete each research and summarize the results through discussing the progress of the research in this class.
東北アジア地域を中心に、さまざまな社会の多様性がどのように形成されてきたのかを、「歴史」と「比較」の視点から分析するための知識と技術の習得をめざす。授業の前半では、人類史におけるさまざまなトピックや学史を紹介することで、大まかな歴史を理解するとともに、偏見や失敗の歴史、学問的な限界について議論する。同時に、現在われわれが観察できる文化多様性が、歴史の産物であるということを確認する。後半は、さまざまなデータベースや、定量的な比較の手法と研究例を紹介し、利点と限界について議論する。実習を通じて、さまざまな時空間スケールから東北アジアを理解するためのひとつの視点を習得することを目標とする。
本授業は、東北アジア諸国および関連地域の社会組織に対する人類学的アプローチを議論する。日本、中国、その他の近隣諸国の災害文化を背景にする。扱われる主題は、いわゆる「自然」災害と「人為的」災害の両方の災害に関連するものである。講義においては、社会的連帯、回復力、脆弱性、コミュニティなどの概念が取り上げられる。学生の数に応じて講義の後にグループ討論を実施し、最終的に全体の結論を導きます。
授業は全て対面で行います。

This course introduces the anthropological approach to the social organization of countries in Northeast Asia and it neighbours,including Japan, Taiwan, Korea,and China. We use the context of cultures of disasters in Japan, China, and some of its neighbouring countries. The topic will be dealt within both so-called ‘natural’ and ‘human-made’ catastrophes. Each lecture will deal with the concept of social solidarity, resilience, vulnerability, community, nature, environement, climate change, and other contemporary concepts. Most lectures will be followed by a group discussion and a general conclusions.
The classes will be onsite.
