This course aims to improve the students' ability to read Ruiju-Sandaikyaku. Sutudens are required to prepare for the assigned part of the designated handouts for each class.

歴史学は実証の上に成り立つ学問であり、それを学ぶ者は歴史資料を的確に読みこなすことができなければならない。本講では、その第一歩として日本中世史に関する代表的な史料を講読し、基礎的な読解力を身につけることを目標とする。また、中世社会の特質についても考える。
Historiography is a discipline that stands on proofs. Students studying Historiography must be able to read historical materials accurately. As a first step, in this class, students read standard historical materials in the Middle Ages and gain the fundamental skills to read them. Students also consider the characteristics of Japanese medieval society.
鎌倉幕府は、基本法典である御成敗式目を編纂し、そのほか多数の法令・行政命令を発した（追加法という）。また、裁判記録も残されている。それらは鎌倉時代の法・社会、政権の性格を解明する上での重要な史料である。この時間は、「裁許状」および関連史料の精密な読解を通じて、鎌倉時代の裁判と社会について探究する。授業は受講生による発表と討論を中心として行なう。
Kamakura Shogunate compiled the basic regulations, Goseibai-shikimoku（御成敗式目）. And it issued numerous additional laws and administrative orders, we say Tsuika-ho（追加法）.
Records of trials are also kept. These are important historical materials for clarifying the nature of the law, society and regime of the Kamakura period. In this class, we study the law and society of the Kamakura period through precise reading of records of trials and related historical materials. This class is a seminar style course intended to allow students to have in-depth discussion between themselves so that they can acquire abundant knowledge and identify a research issue.
平安時代を学ぶための基本史料である『小右記』をテキストとしてとりあげる。『小右記』は、平安時代中期の男性貴族の日記である。記載された内容を精読するとともに、関連する史料も調査し、読解する。このことにより、史料としての扱い方に習熟し、古記録に基づいた歴史像の構築の方法について理解を深める。なお、授業では各回担当者が報告する。
This course aims to improve the students' ability to read Heian era's document written by a male nobleman. Sutudens are required to prepare for the assigned part of the designated handouts for each class. References(handouts) are provided.
「鎌倉時代の法と社会(1)」の続講。単なる史料の読み方や基本的な知識を学ぶ場ではなく、問題点を発見し議論する場と位置づけているので、発表者には問題提起的な報告をすることが求められる。また、それ以外の受講生も主体的に議論に参加しなければならない。受講者が任意にテーマを選び報告する機会も設けたい。
This class is the continuation of “The Law and Society of the Kamakura Period 1” in the previous semester. This class aims to findissues and discuss them. Students who are presenting are required to make presentations that pose issues. Students who are not presenting are to read the source materials and to prepare questions and comments before class.
