Introduction to Japanese Medieval historical Materials

授業の目的と概要

　歴史学は実証の上に成り立つ学問であり、それを学ぶ者は歴史資料を的確に読みこなすことができなければならない。本講では、その第一歩として日本中世史に関する代表的な史料を講読し、基礎的な読解力を身につけることを目標とする。また、中世社会の特質についても考える。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

Historiography is a discipline that stands on proofs. Students studying Historiography must be able to read historical materials accurately. As a first step, in this class, students read standard historical materials in the Middle Ages and gain the fundamental skills to read them. Students also consider the characteristics of Japanese medieval society.

講義時にプリントを配布する。
References are handed out at every class.

授業時間外学習

報告者はおおよそ2週間前から準備を始めること。報告にあたっていない学生も事前に史料を読み、疑問点・問題点を整理してから授業に臨むこと。
Students who are presenting are to prepare their presentations 2 weeks in advance. Students who are not presenting are to read the source materials and to prepare questions and comments before class.

古文・漢文の基礎的読解力を要する。
It is recommended that participating students have basic skills in reading classical Japanese and Chineses.
