This course is an introduction to basic concepts and principles of modern pragmatics.
Assuming no prior knowledge of pragmatic analysis, it covers fundamental phenomena such as implicature and politeness.
Many of the examples come from English, Japanese and Chinese.

This course aims to improve students' ability to read English texts with accuracy and introduce students to basic concepts of generative syntax, through intensive reading of English texts on English linguistics.
令和6年度は、まず前半では科学論文の構成について解説した論文（英語）の輪読を通じて科学論文構成の基礎を学ぶ。続いて後半で、植物生命科学に関連するの英語論文の輪読を通じて、科学論文の読解力を身に着ける。講義内では、輪読は1から2段の英文を朗読し日本語で説明する形式で進める。
The course will first focus on learning the basics of the structure of scientific papers through a close reading of English review articles. In the second half of the course, students will enhance their understanding of the scientific literature through comprehension of research papers in plant science. This approach will aim for a deep understanding of scientific discourse and terminology in the context of plant science.
言語学の新たな方向性を根源的に問い直す新しいパラダイムとして認知言語学は近年着実に進展している。その言語研究のアプローチにおける基本的な考え方、分析方法を学ぶ。言語の語彙・形態レベルの現象からはじめ、その研究手法に基づく様々な言語現象を扱った最近の研究論文を読み最近の研究動向について知る。
/Cognitive linguistics has made steady progress in recent years as a new paradigm that fundamentally reexamines the direction of linguistics. Students will learn the basic ideas and research methodologies in this new approach of Cognitive Linguistics. Students will read recent research papers dealing with various linguistic phenomena in this approach, starting with lexical category organizations and morphological phenomena of language.

The students read English written research papers of Food and Bimolecular Science, Nutrition, Biophysical Chemistry, Biodynamic Chemistry, Terahertz Optical and Biological Engineering, Bimolecular Function, Bioorganic Chemistry, Analytical Bioorganic Chemistry, Biostructural Chemistry.
本講義の目的は、考古学研究の目的と手法、概念を学び、考古学について自分なりの問題意識・視点を獲得することです。考古学研究は、対象とする時代・地域あるいは研究者によって、理論的・方法論的に多様です。そして、研究成果は一次的に報告書、そして研究を通した論文として発表されますが、報告書や論文にはそれぞれの形式が存在します。形式に沿って構造化された文章に親しむことは、調査・研究資料から正しく情報を引き出すために必要です。具体的な資料の読解を通して、考古学と論文の構造についての知識を獲得しつつ、考古学研究の多様性を認識します。こうした知識の獲得と同時に、自分なりの問題意識・視点をもち、議論できるようになることをめざします。そのため、講義時に内容を報告するとともに、全員で意見交換を行います。
The purpose of this lecture is to learn the purpose, method and concept of archaeological study and to acquire student’s own problem awareness / opinion on archaeology.
