Fundamental Perspectives in English Linguistics II

授業の目的と概要

英語学関連の英語文献の講読を通して、文献を正確に読む能力を育成するともに、生成文法統語論の基本的な概念の理解を目指す。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

This course aims to improve students' ability to read English texts with accuracy and introduce students to basic concepts of generative syntax, through intensive reading of English texts on English linguistics.

Students will understand the basic concepts and methodology of generative syntax and develop the ability to read research papers from critical viewpoints.

This course consists of lectures by the instructor, presentations by the students, and discussions. The course contents and schedule are as follows.

授業時間外学習

事前に該当箇所を予習し、問題点や不明な点を整理する（2時間）。授業後は、内容を確認し問題点について理解を深める（2時間）。
The students are required to read the assigned part of the textbook in advance and prepare for in-class discussion and presentation. They are also required to review each class to have a better understanding of the topics discussed in class and in the textbook.
