This course aims to deepen the understanding of how international development policies and projects are formulated and developed using case studies.
The course is to introduce how development aid policies are formulated based on the needs of the society in a country and how projects are implemented on the ground based on the policies. It uses case studies of Japanese projects that the lecturer has experienced in his career to explain the formulation and implementation of development projects. The course provides opportunities for participants to learn actual practices taking place on the ground of international development.
This course is designed to introduce students to the political history and current dynamics unfolding in Latin American and Caribbean countries to understand the diverse elements that shape and influence the political systems of these states and their development models.
The focus throughout the course will be providing students with the necessary content to understand developments in contemporary Latin American politics through the study of the different political approaches implemented by the governments of the region to promote national and regional development and challenge or insert themselves into the Global Governance architecture.

There are various risks in the rapidly changing modern society such as global environmental issues, natural disasters, finance, insurance, information security, politics and diplomacy and so on. In this lecture, we invite special experts from multiple areas as a guest speaker and give lectures on the features and importance of risk management broadly based on the diversified range of projects and case studies.
This course will examine the issues of Japanese universities and their students in the process of globalization, from a variety of perspectives ranging from the individual experience to the role of higher education in the larger Japanese society. Discussions based on relevant readings, lectures, and student presentations will be the platform for this course. In addition to classroom discussion, students will explore one of five selected issues of universities and their students in the globalizing and diversifying society as a group project. This course requires a certain level of English proficiency. TOEFL ITP 530 or higher is desirable.
本科目では、グローバル化の過程おける日本の大学と学生の問題を、個人の体験から、日本社会における高等教育の役割に至るまで、さまざまな観点から考察します。この科目は、関連する読書、講義、学生のプレゼンテーションに基づいたディスカッションを中心とした授業です。また、学生はグローバル化・多様化する社会における大学とその学生に関する5つの課題のうち1つを取り上げて、グループプロジェクトを行います。この授業はすべて英語で行います。ディスカッションを中心とした授業のため、一定の英語力（TOEFL ITP 530以上が望ましい）が必要です。
This course introduces students to Japanese corporate culture with the history of changes in employment practices. The classes will cover the Japanese Style Management, Bubble Economy, and the Lost 20 Years. How did Japanese companies develop their management style? Why were Japanese manufacturers regarded as the strongest? What caused the Bubble Economy? Why did they have to give up the practices once thought to be essential? While answering these questions, the course will emphasize the role of employment practices to illustrate the Japanese culture. Two main objectives of the course are to possess the knowledge of Japanese employment practices and to understand the rationales for changes in the practices for the past 20 years.
The graduate students are to take leading roles in the group discussions with undergraduate students and international students, which will help them strengthen the administrative ability and the leadership.
本科目は日本の雇用慣行変化について学習します。授業では、日本的経営、バブル経済、失われた２０年を見ていきます。どのように日本的経営はなされたか、何故日本製造業は最強とみなされたか、何がバブル経済をもたらしたか、これらに回答しながら日本文化を学ぶため、雇用慣行の役割を把握します。二つの学習目標は、日本的雇用慣行に浮いての知識を深めること、そして過去２０年間の雇用慣行変化について原因を理解すること、です。
大学院学生の皆さんには、クラス内で学部生、留学生とグループ討議を行い、指導的役割を担ってもらうことで統率力、指導力の強化に努めてもらいます。
