Objective
This class provides explanations of polymer solutions, polymer gels, colloids, polymer solids, polymer surfaces, fibers, films, and composites based on the physicochemical properties and behaviors of polymers and biomolecules.
Goal of Study
The purpose of this class is to help students explain the material development concerning humanity and the environment from a physicochemical viewpoint of polymers including biomolecules.

In this course, Google Classroom will be used to transmit lecture materials and lecture information.
In the super-aging society, expectations for biomaterials are high and various functions are required. This course covers the design, physical, mechanical, chemical, and biological properties of metallic, ceramic, and polymeric biomaterials used for artificial organs and therapy. In addition, their biological reactions with hard and soft tissues and evaluation methods are lectured. The purpose of this course is to deepen understanding of the fundamental characteristics of biomaterials.

The lecture will be given for topics related to polymer materials science, especially to polymer organized assemblies and polymer thin films. Electronic, dielectric, and photonic properties of polymer thin film assemblies will be discussed. Nano-technology in the fabrication of molecular assembled devices is also given.

This course covers the basic concept on various properties of fluids used in processes for reaction, separation and material synthesis. Students in this lecture will learn the rheology of homogeneous or dispersed system, linking with fluid structure and molecular structure. The course is designed for students who will be able to understand and explain the relation between rheological properties and the structures described above, and also to apply the knowledge on rheological properties to process designing and materials processing.

工学材料を取り扱う上で重要な表面・界面の基礎的物性について学び、材料の特性や機能向上に表面・界面の物理が深く関与していることについて理解を深める。
また、固体や液体の表面・界面に固有な現象やそれを解析するための手段について知識を深め、工学的諸問題解決の糸口をつかむ。

Surface and interface phenomena of solids or liquids strongly correlate with industrial process. This course provides bases of condensed matter physics related to material’s surfaces and interfaces, such as surface thermodynamics, surface tension, wetting, gas adsorption, atomic and electronic structures of well-defined surfaces, electron-excitation from solid surface, thin film growth, analysis techniques for surface phenomena, etc.
