テキストの集積であるコーパスは、言語学やその関連領域の研究に様々な形で活かされています。本授業では、まず前半でコーパスを利用した研究の可能性を把握した上で、定量的研究をする上での基本的事項や処理・分析法を学びます。後半では、コーパスを利用した実際の定量的研究事例を深く理解し、受講生自身のことばに関する関心事をコーパスによって確かめる作業を行います。
Corpora, collections of language resorces, are utilized in many different ways in linguistics or the related disciplines. In this course, students will first overview the possibilities of corpus studies, and then learn how to extract, process, and analyzed the data. In the latter half of the course, they will explore actual quantitative studise using corpora in depth, and experience the process of corpus linguistics to examine their own interests about language.

本科目では、実証的な言語研究を実際に体験するために、グループを組んで調査・実験の小プロジェクトを行います。研究テーマ・デザインの立案、調査・実験素材の準備、データ収集、分析、まとめと発表までの一連の作業を授業期間内に行います。期間内に実現できるよう教員が助言をしますが、基本的にはグループのメンバー同士の主体的な協同により、一つの研究成果をあげてもらいます。この作業を通して、実証的な言語研究の醍醐味に触れてもらうことを期待します。
This course will provide students teams with the opportunity of a collaborative project to conduct an experiment to experience an empirical study of language. Each project will include forming a research question, designing an experiment or survey, preparing materials and the program, collecting data, analyzing, interpreting the finding, and presenting it. Each student needs to cooperate with other team members to carry out independent research until the course completion under the supervision of the instructor. Students will be fascinated by the activity of empirical language study.

These basic knowledge, skills and attitudes are necessary not only for students considering employment after graduate study, but also for those who wish to pursue a research career.
The course will promote students to: (1) learn from guest speakers with a variety of cultural, educational and professional backgrounds in order to gain knowledge and information that will be useful in shaping their own career perspectives; (2) engage in collaborative learning with other students in order to understand the significance of working together; and (3) review the results of their learning by providing presentations and writing reports in order to reflect the results of their studies, set career goals, and take concrete action. Students are facilitated to actively interact with others by speaking and listening to each other and lead discussions to form a learning community.
Guest speakers will include leading global figures from different fields and ways of working. This course will be conducted in English. A certain level of skill in interacting and discussing in English is required.

本講義では，財務会計・監査等に関連する実際のデータを分析することを通じて，主に財務データ処理能力および（統計的な）分析能力を高めることを目的とします．また，こうした分析に必要な統計，計量経済学に係る最低限の知識の習得も目指します．
The purpose of this course is to improve the ability to process and analyze financial data mainly by analyzing actual data related to financial accounting and auditing. We also aim to acquire the minimum knowledge of statistics and econometrics necessary for such analysis.

量的社会調査を実施する上で必要となるさまざまな技法を習得することを目的とする。受講生は社会調査の企画から実査、分析、報告書の作成までの一連の過程を経験する。調査は東北大学の学生を対象にして行う。「東北大学生の生活と意識」を共通のテーマとして設けた上で、受講生の関心に応じてグループを分ける。
This course offers knowledge and skills that are needed to conduct quantitative social surveys. Students experience a set of processes on social surveys, including establishing hypotheses, designing questionnaires, statistical data analysis, and writing a report. The survey will be aimed at students of Tohoku University. The main theme of the survey will be "Life and attitudes of students of Tohoku University."
本授業では，受講生にコーポレートファイナンスの研究に関する文献を読んでもらいながら，コーポレートファイナンスの研究を行うために必要な知識と研究手法を学習してもらう．また，「プロジェクト研究（コーポレートファイナンス）」で作成するリサーチ・ペーパーに関連する先行研究を収集・調査・整理し，リサーチ・ペーパーの研究分野，目的，方法を提示してもらう．
In this class, students learn about knowledge and research methods to conduct their own research on corporate finance by reading the literature on corporate finance studies. They are also required to survey previous studies and outline their research areas, purposes, and methods in order to write their research papers in the proceeding course.
