アダプテーションとは、もとにある作品を異なる形に移し替えて新たな作品を作ることを指す。日本におけるアダプテーションの歴史は古く、現代に至るまで盛んに行われている。この授業では、日本におけるアダプテーションの歴史を踏まえたうえで、主に近世後期から近現代におけるアダプテーション作品を取り上げて受講生の興味関心に従い論じる。作品の分析を通して日本文化の特性を学ぶとともに、その作品が生まれたそれぞれの時代背景について理解することを目的とする。

Adaptation in Japan has a long history and has been actively practiced up to the present day. In this class, based on the history of adaptation in Japan, we will discuss adaptation works mainly from the late modern period to the modern period according to the interests of the students. Through the analysis of these works, students will learn about the characteristics of Japanese culture and gain an understanding of the historical backgrounds in which these works were created.

本演習は、明治期から近年にいたる多様な小説について、〈生き物〉の表象（特に動植物に関する文学的表現）という観点を軸に、多様な社会的・文化的なコンテクストを視野に入れて分析を行うことを目的とする。
受講者は、担当する作品についての分析の結果を資料に基づいて発表する。発表内容を踏まえた全体での討論をとおして、小説の精緻な読解を試みる。
The purpose of this exercise is to analyze various novels from the Meiji period to recent years from the viewpoint of the representation of "living things" (especially the literary representation of animals and plants) with a view to various social and cultural contexts.
Students present the results of their analysis of literary works. We try to read the novel in detail through the discussion based on the presentation.
マンガについて、その定義、歴史、ナラティブについて学ぶ。マンガは日本において大変ポピュラーな文化である。それだけに我々は「マンガとは何か」について、分かっているような気になってしまいがちである。しかし、この講義では新旧の様々な具体例を取り上げながら、「マンガとは何か」という問いが実はきわめて難しいものであることを示していく。受講者には議論への積極的な参加を求める。
Learn about the definition, history, and narrative of manga. Manga is a very popular culture in Japan. Because of this, we tend to think that we know something about "manga". However, it is actually very difficult to answer the question, "What is manga?". To illustrate this point, we take a variety of concrete examples, both old and new. Participants are encouraged to actively participate in discussions.
人が生きた背景には、歴史と時代情勢の変化がある。この授業では、受講生の興味・関心のある人物を1人取り上げ、その生涯や事績をたどる作業を行うことで、近代・現代の日本の歴史や社会情勢などを学ぶことを目的としている。
それらの作業によって、その人物が生きた時代に何が起こっていたのか、それがどのような影響を与えたのかなどを文献や史資料を利用しながら考える。そして、今日の国内外における諸問題を考える手がかりをつかむ。
When discussing and understanding Japanese history and social situation, one must always takes into account the relevant background. In this course, the purpose is to study and understand about the history and social situation of modern Japan, with the case of a person's life (history and activities).
現代人にとって、学校で学ぶことはあまりに当たり前の行為と化している。しかし、一人の教師が教壇に立ち、多数の学生に対して講義を行うことは、日本ではせいぜい明治時代になってから一般化した教育スタイルに過ぎない。また、学生個々の達成度を測るため、学期末に行われる試験も、前近代の日本社会では決して一般的ではなかった。本授業では、受講生たちに教育社会史の論文を精読させ、学校で学ぶという行為の意味を深く考察してもらう。
For modern people, learning at school has become a completely normal activity. However, having one teacher stand at the podium and give lectures to a large number of students is only an educational style that became common in Japan during the Meiji period. Additionally, exams held at the end of each semester to measure each student's level of achievement were by no means common in pre-modern Japanese society. In this course, students will be asked to carefully read papers on the social history of education and deeply consider the meaning of the learning at school.

メディア・ミックスとは、複数の媒体を組み合わせて展開する広告戦略や、小説やマンガ、ゲームなどのコンテンツを異なるメディアへと展開させる手法の事を指す。現在の日本では恒常的にメディア・ミックスが行われているが、実は江戸時代からこうした手法は行われてきた。本講義では、日本のメディア・ミックスの歴史について江戸時代から現代までの流れについて学び、日本学研究のための多角的な視点を養う。
Media mix refers to an advertising strategy that combines multiple media, or a method of developing content such as novels, manga, and games across different media platforms. In Japan today, media mix has been a regular practice, but in fact, it has been practiced since the Edo period (1603-1868). In this class, students will learn about the history of media mix in Japan from the Edo period to the present, and develop a multifaceted perspective for Japanese Studies.
日本近世・近代史研究演習Ⅲの研究発表をふまえて、さらに研究を進めて、その成果を報告する。そして、討論を通して課題を絞り、論文などにまとめていく。このことを通して、受講者が、日本近現代史における現在の研究内容について学び、新しい歴史研究の構築とその内容の理解について認識を深める。
Based on the research presentation of the Advanced Seminar on Early Modern and Modern History in JapanⅢ (Method of Studies on Japanese Modern History (1)), students will further research and report the results.
Then, through discussions, students narrow down the issues and summarize them into papers.
Through this, participants deepen their understanding of the contents of Japanese modern historical studies. This course will be taught in Japanese.
