日本考古学を中心に、明治時代以来の考古学研究の流れを整理し、今後の展望を探る。旧石器の編年と製作技術、縄文土器の型式学、縄文集落と社会、農耕社会の成立と発展、古墳文化、城柵官衙遺跡、古代窯業生産と供給、中・近世考古学その他、受講者各自が具体的な課題を選んで、順次、発表を行う。詳細な文献目録の作製、研究史の画期となった主要業績の解題、基本的な考古学資料の内容理解、調査研究報告書の詳細な検討、そして相互の討論を通して、研究の現状についての認識を深める。

日本考古学を中心に、明治時代以来の考古学研究の流れを整理し、受講学生が各自の研究方向を見出します。例えば、旧石器の編年と製作技術、縄文土器の型式学、縄文集落と社会、農耕社会の成立と発展、古墳文化の特徴、東北地方の城柵官衙遺跡、古代窯業生産と供給、中・近世考古学などの課題があり、受講者各自が具体的な課題を選んで、順次、発表を行います。詳細な文献目録の作成、研究史の画期となった主要業績の解題、基本的な考古学資料の内容理解、調査研究報告書の詳細な検討、そして相互の討論を通して、研究の現状についての認識を深めます。
In this course, students will understand history of archaeological study in Japan since Maiji era and establish their own idea about archaeological study. In every class, students prepare their own presentation paper and discuss archaeological issues each other. For instance, issue concerns chronology and technology in Palaeolithic period, tipology of Jomon pottery, settlement and society in Jomon period, emergence and development of cultivation, characteristics of Kohun culture, ancient fort sites in Tohoku region, ancient ceramic industry and society of Middle Ages and Modern time.
第1学期に引き続き、考古学研究室による発掘調査資料・収蔵資料に取り組み、実際の研究分析法を学ぶ。発掘調査実習を通して、調査の計画と実践を学習する。
実際の遺跡発掘調査による資料の整理と分析作業を通して、考古学における遺跡調査法、資料分析法の基礎を学ぶ。資料に対する観察眼を養い、遺跡・遺物の調査研究を進めていくために必要な実技を修得する。遺物の特徴に応じた写真撮影の方法を実習する。資料保存・修復の作業実習も行う。また通年において、発掘技術、測量作業、記録法などの実際を発掘調査現場において学ぶ。特に出席および毎回の受講態度を重視する。相当量の宿題あり。
This course provides actual experiences of archaeological research. Archaeological records and excavated artifacts from the investigation by the Laboratory of Archaeology, Graduate School of Arts and Letters, Tohoku University are used in the class. The method of analysis and production of excavation reports are practiced during the class hours. A heavy load of homework (off class hour laboratory work) are expected. Good commands of the Japanese language are necessary especially during discussion and laboratory work.
この授業では、考古文化の発達と人類進化の関係について学ぶ。人類の各進化段階で起きた、認知、行動、文化、社会の発達について学び、人類の生物学的な進化と文化的発達の意味を理解する。
In this course, the correlation between the development of archaeological cultures and the human evolution are explained. Students better understand the significance of the biological evolution of humans and cultural development by learning the advances in cognition, behaviors, cultures and societies corresponding to the human evolution.
この授業では、考古文化の発達と人類進化の関係について学ぶ。人類の各進化段階で起きた、認知、行動、文化、社会の発達について学び、人類の生物学的な進化と文化的発達の意味を理解する。
In this course, the correlation between the development of archaeological cultures and the human evolution are explained. Students better understand the significance of the biological evolution of humans and cultural development by learning the advances in cognition, behaviors, cultures and societies corresponding to the human evolution.
本講義の目的は、考古学研究の目的と手法、概念を学び、考古学について自分なりの問題意識・視点を獲得することです。考古学研究は、対象とする時代・地域あるいは研究者によって、理論的・方法論的に多様です。そして、研究成果は一次的に報告書、そして研究を通した論文として発表されますが、報告書や論文にはそれぞれの形式が存在します。形式に沿って構造化された文章に親しむことは、調査・研究資料から正しく情報を引き出すために必要です。具体的な資料の読解を通して、考古学と論文の構造についての知識を獲得しつつ、考古学研究の多様性を認識します。こうした知識の獲得と同時に、自分なりの問題意識・視点をもち、議論できるようになることをめざします。そのため、講義時に内容を報告するとともに、全員で意見交換を行います。
The purpose of this lecture is to learn the purpose, method and concept of archaeological study and to acquire student’s own problem awareness / opinion on archaeology.

東北大学には研究の基礎となり成果となった、膨大な資料標本や研究機器類がある。その中には、文学研究科の考古学資料が約20万件あり、これらの資料はおよそ90年間以上にわたる調査と研究によって収集されてきたものである。
本講義では、これらの資料について解説し、これら資料に基づいて構築された学説の意義について紹介するとともに、その研究史的意義と今日的な意義について検討する。本年度は、東北大学において進められてきた縄文時代および弥生時代研究の特質について検討する。
In Tohoku University there are many collections of the various fields. Approximately 200,000 of archaeology artifacts are in those. Those archaeology artifacts has been collected by investigations for more than 90 years.
This course provides explanations of archaeology collection of Tohoku University and the academic significance of the collection. In fiscal year 2023, it's explained mainly about research works about Jomon culture and Yayoi culture advanced in Tohoku university.
