講義形式で進める授業である。現代社会は、自然災害と科学技術が連動しあう複合災害のリスクに備えなければならない。この授業では、社会学的なリスクや安全に関する研究を概観しながら、複雑化する現代社会におけるリスクとのつきあい方について考えていきたい。最初に、社会学におけるリスクに関する議論を概説し、その後、科学論「第三の波」等、科学社会学の展開状況もふまえながら、科学的専門知の有り様について考察する。最後に、東日本大震災をはじめとする超広域複合災害を念頭におきながら、リスクと信頼と無知（想定外）の間の捻れた関係、またそれがもたらす問題について、組織論の観点もまじえながら、考察する。
This is a lecture-centered course.
We need to prepare against the risk of complex disasters in which the natural disaster and technological crisis occur simultaneously. This course is designed to help students understand the outline of sociological risk theories and gain the perspective needed to discuss the way to cope with the new risks that face us. First, the sociological risk theories are reviewed. Then the public's confidence in science and the responsibility of the experts will be discussed. Finally, we consider the distorted relationship between risk, trust(or confidence) and ignorance and the critical problems resulting from this relationship.

"Risk" and "uncertainty" are treated as the basic concepts of sociology today. Those are related to the various subjects such as disater, environmental problem,crime,and technological crisis. In this course, we will discuss the way to discribe the modern society which has become a "risk society" through doing a close and careful examination of the text. Particularly, we will discuss the relationship between gender and risks, which has been somewhat overlooked in so-called "risk society" theory.

この授業は「ディスコース社会学」と呼びうる社会学的研究について論じるものである。ここでいう「ディスコース社会学」とは、質的調査の結果として得られたインタビュー・データや観察結果を用いて社会学的な研究を成り立たせるための方法と、その方法から得られる知見によって形作られるものである。調査を行ってデータを得たからといって、それを理論や命題に「当てはめる」ということでは、社会学的な研究は成り立たないし、そもそもそれが誤っていることもしばしばである。そこで、それらのデータを社会学的な視角から眺め、そのデータで観察される現象を社会学的に明らかにすることによって初めて、その対象を社会学的に記述することが出来る。そのさいに踏まえておくことが必要な言語に着目した「分析をめぐる基礎的な考え方」や、それをもとにした「具体的な分析方法」について論じるのが、この授業である。これは、社会学理論や社会学的命題の現れとして現実を考えるのではなく、むしろ現実から始めて社会学的思考を成り立たせるという、質的研究にとって中心的な作業ともいえるだろう。
This course discusses a sociological study that can be called "Discursive sociology". "Discourse sociology" refers both to the methods used to conduct sociological research using interview data and observations obtained as a result of qualitative research, and to the findings obtained from these methods. We often fit the data obtained through qualitative research into a theory or proposition. However it is not sociological research works and the insights obtained sometimes are fault. Therefore, we can only describe the subject sociologically by looking at the data from a sociological perspective and clarifying the phenomena observed in the data from a sociological perspective. In this class, we will discuss the "basic ideas of analysis" focusing on language and "specific methods of analysis" based on these ideas, which are necessary to be taken into account in this process. This is a central task for qualitative research, which does not consider reality as a manifestation of sociological theory or sociological propositions, but rather starts from reality to establish sociological thinking.
環境社会学の課題は、環境問題のメカニズムの解明や自然環境の保全の方法を探ることにとどまらない。歴史的環境（街並みや景観）、食と農、震災復興、科学技術とリスク、ツーリズムなど、さまざまな対象を扱ってきた。この授業では、それらさまざまな環境社会学の研究に学び、環境社会学の理論と方法を理解することを目的とする。
The challenges of environmental sociology are not limited to elucidating the mechanisms of environmental problems and finding ways to conserve the natural environment. It has dealt with a variety of subjects, including the historical environment (cityscapes and landscapes), food and agriculture, disaster recovery, science and technology and risks, and tourism. The purpose of this class is to understand the perspectives and analytical methods of environmental sociology while covering various environmental sociology studies.

We are living in contemporary information society, surrounded by a lot of media. This class aims to dig out phenomenon and problems that are caused by media through which information is mediated, based on basic media theories and various topics.
