東北大学の充実した交換留学制度を上手に活用するためには、周到な準備が必要である。それは留学先の選択や、留学期間中の履修にかかわることだけでなく、留学先での受け入れ審査に必要な東北大学の成績やTOEFL等の英語試験のスコアー、さらに奨学金の獲得等々、多岐にわたっている。本講義では、グローバル・チャレンジ・コース I （GCC I）に続き、東北大学の交換留学制度を活用して、材料科学・工学分野で実りある留学経験をするために必要なことを学び、その対策を実践的に行なっていく。

To take full advantage of Tohoku University's extensive exchange program, careful preparation is necessary. This includes not only the selection of a study abroad destination and coursework during the study abroad period but also Tohoku University's score, TOEFL, and other English test scores required for acceptance screening at the study abroad destination, obtaining scholarship funds, etc. In this lecture, following the Global Challenge Course I (GCC I), students will learn what they need to do to have a fruitful study abroad experience in the field of materials science and engineering by taking advantage of Tohoku University's exchange program.

１．目的
交換留学のために必要なさまざまな情報を取得し、国際的な感覚を育む。
２．概要
交換留学するために必要となるGPA、TOEFL等のスコア、単位読み替え、奨学金等々に対する理解を深め、実りある交換留学を実現するための予備学習を進める。また、国際的な感覚を育むために、近隣諸国のパートナー校を訪問し、東北大学や工学部、マテリアル・開発系等に関する英語のプレゼンテーションを行う。
３．達成目標等
本学科の学習・教育目標のD、E、G、H、I、Jに関する能力を含めて修得する。
交換留学で海外の有名校で学び、自然科学に関する国際的な教養とセンスを養う。

1. Objectives
To acquire information necessary for exchange students and to develop an international mindset.
2. Outline
To deepen students' understanding of GPA, TOEFL scores, credit transfer, scholarships, etc., necessary for studying abroad, and to promote preliminary study to realize a fruitful exchange program. In addition, to foster an international mindset, students will visit partner universities in neighboring countries and give presentations in English about Tohoku University, the School of Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, etc.

英語によるコミュニケーション・プレゼンテーションスキルの修得を目指した授業。主に、国際共同大学院プログラム「生命科学（脳科学）」（略称：Neuro Global Program）履修生を対象とする。NGP必修単位であるため、NGP履修生は必ず履修できるが、NGPを履修していない学生も参加できる。ただし、総参加者12名程度を限度とする。
This course is aimed to train NGP students with skills for English communication and academic presentation. As this course is mandatory, NGP students will definitely be allowed to participate, but other students can also attend. However, the maximum number of participants will be limited to approximately 12.
交換留学を通じて、法学・政治学分野における学修・研究をいかに充実させることができるか、実際の交換留学の経験と成果を分析して他の学生に伝えること。
将来の職業生活（就職活動も含む）において留学経験をどのように生かすことができるか検討し、意見交換すること。
The aim of this class is to help the students of the Department of Law to prepare for and take full advantage of their study abroad experience. Participants will also be expected to present what they learned during their 1-2 semesters of study abroad to other students upon return. We will also look at how to connect your study abroad experience to your future career.
英語によるコミュニケーション・プレゼンテーションスキルの修得を目指した授業。主に、国際共同大学院プログラム「生命科学（脳科学）」（略称：Neuro Global Program）履修生を対象とする。博士前期課程でのNGP必修単位であるため、NGP履修生は必ず履修できるが、NGPを履修していない学生も参加できる。ただし、総参加者12名程度を限度とする。特に、博士後期課程からNGP履修生となったもので、博士前期課程で、「アカデミック英語集中講義」を受講していなかった学生には、受講することを推奨する。

宇宙の成り立ちやそこにある天体を観測的また理論的に研究する天文学を題材として、研究者がどのように「研究」をしているのかを体験する。具体的には、自ら研究テーマを策定し、研究を遂行し、結果をまとめて発表をする、一連の活動を行う。研究は4-5人程度のチームを組んで行い、チーム内での議論や役割の分担なども含めたグループワークについても身につけてもらう。これらの活動を通じて、題材である天文学のみでなく、より汎用的な「課題を設定する力」「研究を進める力」「チームワーク」「結果を説明する能力」などを身につけてもらい、今後の学部生活でもそれらの能力を生かして有意義に過ごしてもらうことをゴールとする。/ Students will experience how researchers conduct "research" in astronomy, which covers the observational and theoretical study of the formation of the universe and the astronomical objects. Specifically, the students will be involved in a series of activities such as setting their own research themes, carrying out the research, and summarizing and presenting the results. The research will be conducted in teams of about 4-5 members, and participants will learn about group work, including discussions and carry out each role within the team. Through these activities, the goal is to acquire general research skills such as "the ability to set a problem," "the ability to carry out research," "teamwork," and "the ability to explain the results," and to make use of these skills in their future university research beyond astronomy.
海外体験プログラムは、海外の協定校やコンソーシアムなどが主催するプログラムにおいて特定のテーマに基づく知識や実践経験を深めることは当然ながら、研修をより充実させるため、プログラム開始前から自ら目標と計画を立て、準備を進めることで、計画力、情報収集力、行動力を身につけるところに最大の目的がある。
