アカデミック英語集中講義
Academic English training course
英語によるコミュニケーション・プレゼンテーションスキルの修得を目指した授業。主に、国際共同大学院プログラム「生命科学（脳科学）」（略称：Neuro Global Program）履修生を対象とする。NGP必修単位であるため、NGP履修生は必ず履修できるが、NGPを履修していない学生も参加できる。ただし、総参加者12名程度を限度とする。
This course is aimed to train NGP students with skills for English communication and academic presentation. As this course is mandatory, NGP students will definitely be allowed to participate, but other students can also attend. However, the maximum number of participants will be limited to approximately 12.
NGP履修生には、「NGP特別海外研修」として、中長期的に海外の大学・研究機関にて、国際共同研究を実施することが求められている。したがって、海外提携先教員との英語での電子メールのやり取りから始まり、現地での日常会話、英語でのプログレスミーティング、海外国際学会でのプレゼンテーションなどをこなす能力が必要となる。アカデミアの国際的舞台で今後も活躍するには必須の能力であり、本科目を通して、英語力・国際的対人関係を築く能力を鍛えることを目標とする。
NGP students will be requested to perform international collaborative studies through "NGP Special Overseas Training" course. The students will need to contact their joint supervisor abroad first by e-mail exchanges, then, the students will need to survive living abroad for approximately 6 months. The students are also required to give English presentations at the lab progress meetings and their results will likely be presented in international academic conferences. Through the training given in this class, the students are expected to acquire English communication skills especially in the field of life and brain sciences.
2月～3月での１～2週間程度の開催を予定しており、海外から1～2名の教員が来日して指導をする。少人数によるワークショップ形式での授業であるため、参加者の積極的な発言等が望まれる。開催日程は、随時、NGP ホームページ等を通して公開される。
The intensive course are scheduled around February to March every year lasting approximately 2 weeks. 1 to 2 lecturers will be invited from abroad for supervision of this English course. The class will take the form of a small workshop; thus, enthusiastic participation is requested for all students. The actual date of the lecture will be announced through NGP web pages.
海外から招聘する教員、および、本学担当教員によって評価が行われる。出席状況、議論への参加、課題への取り組みと発表内容などで総合的に判断される。
Lecturers from abroad and designated instructor of Tohoku University will evaluate. Students' attendance to the class, participation to discussions, and quality of presentation will be rated.
