/Bioactive natural products are a rich source of novel therapeutics. This course explains synthetic methodologies useful for chemical synthesis of such natural products with special emphasis on "catalyst" that include enzymes, organocatalysts and organometalics. This course also provide basic knowledge on medicinal chemistry and chemical biology.

1.目的
現代の物質文明を支える様々な有機化合物が有機炭素資源からどのようにしてつくられるか、またそのための基礎的な合成法を学ぶ。
2.概要
有機化合物の合成法は、炭素-炭素結合の形成と官能基の変換の組み合わせからなる。本講義前半では、芳香族化合物の選択的な合成法を学ぶ。後半では、有機合成反応で重要な地位を占める有機典型金属化学の基礎と有機合成反応への応用について学ぶ。
3.達成目標
この講義では、主に以下のような能力を修得することを目標とする。
・簡単な有機化合物について、有機炭素源からの変換経路を理解し、説明することができる。
・多くの有機化合物が、ごく限られた有機炭素源から合成されることを理解し、基礎的な合成法を説明することができる。
・主要な炭素-炭素結合形成法、官能基変換法を理解し、説明することができる。

1. Purpose
Students will learn how various organic compounds that support modern material civilization are made from organic carbon resources and basic synthetic methods for that purpose.
2. Overview
The synthetic process of organic compounds generally consists of the combination of C-C bond formation and functional group transformation. In the first half of this course, students will learn methods to selectively prepare aromatic compounds with desired structures. In the latter half, students will learn fundamentals of main group organometallic chemistry and synthetic reactions involving organometallic compounds.
3. Goal
The main objective of this course is to acquire the following skills
∙ Understanding and being able to explain synthetic schemes of simple organic compounds from organic carbon sources.
∙ Understanding that many organic compounds are synthesized from limited organic carbon sources and being able to explain basic synthetic methods.
∙ Understanding and being able to explain the main methods of carbon-carbon bond formation and functional group transformation.
生物が生産し、様々な生物活性を有する二次代謝産物は医薬・農薬として人類の生活の質的向上に寄与してきた。それら二次代謝産物の代表的生合成経路(シキミ酸経路、酢酸・マロン酸経路、メバロン酸経路)を有機化学視点から合理的に理解するとともに、そこから派生する様々な二次代謝産物(抗生物質、植物ホルモン、昆虫ホルモン、植物病害抵抗性関連物質など)の構造、生合成および機能について知識を蓄える。また、生合成経路の理解に基づいて開発された医薬、農薬の代表的事例について学び、生合成経路を知ることの意義を認識する。
This class provides students with basic knowledge on three representative biosynthetic pathways of secondary metabolites (shikimate, acetate-malonate, and mevalonate pathways) from a viewpoint of organic chemistry as well as the biological activity of those metabolites.

The purpose of this course is to learn the fundamentals of polymer chemistry such as polymer concepts, polymer structure, polymer properties and polymer synthesis. The course also aims to deepen understanding of the relationship between chemical structures of various macromolecules (polymer molecules) and their physical properties in a molecular level.
