    The objective of this class is to introduce frontiers of inorganic chemistry. The aim of the class is to show how developments in inorganic chemistry impinges on the other disciplines, such as life science, condensed matter physics, and materials chemistry. We will discuss materials chemistry focusing on solid-state compounds, their structures, and electronic, magnetic, and optical properties. In addition, we will discuss nanomaterials and biosensors and introduce the area of catalysis.

    天然有機化合物は生物活性物質の宝庫であって、医薬品などとして実用にも供されている。この講義では、天然有機化合物の合成に必要な方法論を「触媒」を切り口として学ぶ。さらに、有機化学の原理を生物活性物質デザインに反映する方法の基礎を講述する。ケミカルバイオロジーに関する最新トピックスを随時取り上げる。

    /Bioactive natural products are a rich source of novel therapeutics. This course explains synthetic methodologies useful for chemical synthesis of such natural products with special emphasis on "catalyst" that include enzymes, organocatalysts and organometalics. This course also provide basic knowledge on medicinal chemistry and chemical biology.
