免疫反応は病原微生物に対する防御機構として不可欠であるが、その本質は、自己、非自己の認識にある。現代免疫学は、無数の外来異物（非自己）と自己を識別する機構や、抗体の多様化の機構を解明し、薬学、基礎生物学に大きな影響を与えた。本講義では、免疫担当細胞、抗体、補体など、免疫に関連する基本事項とともに、免疫破綻による疾病の機構を学習する。
Beyond the importance of the immune reaction as the defense system against microbes, the essential concept of Immunology is the recognition of the self and non-self. With tremendous studies on the mechanism of self and non-self recognition, and repertoire making of immunoglobulins, Immunology has given a great contribution on Biology. This course provides students the basic knowledge and deeper understanding of immune system.
・免疫応答の本質である自己と非自己の認識機構を説明できる。
・免疫グロブリン分子およびＴ細胞受容体の多様性を生み出す機構を説明できる。
・自然免疫、獲得免疫による生体防御機構を説明できる。
