Practical English Presentation II
英語でのコミュニケーションスキルの向上を目的として、統合化学国際共同大学院(GP-Chem)に属する学生自身の研究領域の動向調査報告と討論を英語で行う。博士後期課程2年次では、博士研究の進捗を含めた研究発表を異分野の研究者にもわかるように行う。様々な背景を持つ研究者との質疑応答を通して、分野横断的な広い視点を身につける。
With the aim of improving communication skills in English, students belonging to the international Joint Graduate Program in Integrated Chemistry (GP-Chem) report trends in areas related to their research fields and conduct discussions in English. In the second year of the doctoral program, a research presentation, including the progress of the doctoral research, should be made in a way that researchers with different backgrounds can understand. This course is designed to help the students to acquire a broad cross-disciplinary perspective through question-and-answer sessions with researchers in various fields.
本授業の目標は、英語でのより高度なプレゼンテーション・コミュニケーションスキルの習得と応用であり、具体的には以下の４項目である。 (i) 関連研究分野の動向を調べて現状を理解し、問題を適切に設定する能力
(ii) 研究計画を自ら立案し実行に必要な諸条件を整備して，研究成果を得る能力
(iii) 英語での研究発表および研究の意義を議論する能力 (iv) 広い視野から議論を展開する能力
The goal of this course is acquisition and application of higher-level presentation and communication skills in English. More specifically, this course aims to improve the students' ability (i) to set adequate scientific problems by an in-depth survey of related research fields
(ii) to plan PhD research by themselves, prepare necessary conditions for excution, and obtain reasonable results
(iii) to present the results and discuss their scientific significance in English (iv) to develop discussions from a broad perspective.
英語でのコミュニケーションスキルの向上を目的として、GP-Chemの該当学生（博士後期課程1年次を想定している）が自身の研究の動向調査報告と質疑応答を行う。発表スライドには、研究のねらい，現在までに行われてきた国内外の関連研究の動向調査、研究の意義などをまとめる。博士後期課程2年次では、異なった背景を持つ研究者（討論に参加するアドバイザー）にもわかるように、学生自身の研究成果を発表する。
For the purpose of improving communication skills in English, GP-Chem students taking this course (assumed to be in the first year of the doctoral course) report on trends in their research fields and discuss the topics. Presentation slides should summarize the research target, trends in domestic and international related research that has been conducted to date, and the significance of the research. In the second year of the doctoral course, students present their own research results so that researchers with different backgrounds (advisors participating in discussions) can understand.
成績は次の項目を合わせて総合的に評価する：出席･発表･議論･複数審査員（アドバイザー）による評価。本授業の２回の発表は別々のセメスターで行うので、成績評価は２回目の発表を行ったセメスターの単位として発表される。
Evaluation is performed comprehensively based on the following points: Attendance, presentation, discussion and evaluation by multiple reviewers. The two presentations in this course will be given in separate semesters; therefore, grade evaluations will be announced as credits for the semester in which the second presentation was given.
