Course Title

Generation Process of IEarthquakes

授業の目的と概要

　小繰り返し地震や過去の大地震の研究により，アスペリティモデルでプレート境界型地震の発生過程はかなりの部分が説明できると2000年代前半には考えられるようになっていた．しかし，震源域の階層性など，このモデルでは説明できない現象もあり，アスペリティモデルの改良の必要性が認識され始めた時期に，2011年東北地方太平洋沖地震が発生した．本講義では，プレート境界型地震の理解の進展について解説し，現状での到達点と今後の課題について紹介する．
　また，スラブ内地震や内陸地震，さらにはプレート境界型地震も，それらの発生に流体が大きく関与していることがわかってきている．これらの地震を生じさせる応力場や流体の関与についても講義を行なう予定である．

Purpose/Abstract

In the first half of the 2000s, the "asperity model" seemed a promising theory for interplate earthquakes because the model could explain the repeating earthquakes. The model, however, could not explain some characteristics including the hierarchical structure found in some source regions and was being revised when the 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake occurred. In this class, recent progress in the understanding of the interplate earthquakes is lectured.
Moreover, the recent studies show that fluid is strongly related to the occurrence of intraslab and inland shallow earthquakes, as well as interplate earthquakes. I will be giving lectures on stress and the effect of fluid on earthquake generation.
