授業の目的と概要/Object and Summary of Class

Main objective is to develop understanding of the agricultural transformation in developing Asia under the impacts of rapid economic growth, industrialization, urbanization, global warming, and globalization.

学修の到達目標/Goal of study

Students are expected to deepen their understanding on the difference of the social systems or institutions among countries and/or areas. Taking account into such diversified characteristics of economy and agriculture in developing Asian countries, students are expected to concert alternative models and policies as well as to review the general models and policies of development.

授業内容・方法と進度予定/Contents and progress schedule of the class

Introduction, contents and progress schedule will be announced at the first class.

成績評価方法/Evaluation method

Presentation of textbook 50%, presentation of homework 30%, and discussion 20%

授業時間外学修/Preparation and Review

Every student is requested to give a presentation in the class once or twice per semester. When a student is appointed as a reporter, he or she must prepare a handout of report based on the assigned chapter of adopted textbook and its related papers.
