Course Title (授業題目)

An introduction to philosophical logic

授業の目的と概要

論理学の歴史は古く、アリストテレスにまで遡ることができます。しかし、古いからといって、全てが明らかになっているわけではなく、今もなお多くの論理学者たちが、様々な問題と向き合っています。本講義では、様相論理に関して技術的・哲学的に基本的な事柄について扱います。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

Logic has a long history, going back to Aristotle. This, however, does not mean that everything has been discovered, and there are still a number of logicians facing various questions. This course aims at providing students with the basics of both technical as well as philosophical topics related to modal logic.

学習の到達目標

様相論理に関する健全性定理及び完全性定理の証明を理解すること、及び関連する哲学的話題を理解することの二点を目的とします。

Learning Goals(学習の到達目標)

This course is designed for students (i) to understand the soundness and completeness result for modal logic, and (ii) to understand philosophical topics related to modal logic.

期末レポートを主とし（60パーセント）、平常点（コメントペーパーの提出など）を加味します（40パーセント）。

The grade will be given based on the final essay (60%), and other small assignments (40%).
