ヴェーダ祭式を巡る議論とその展開
History of discussions and approaches to Vedic rituals
本講義では，アーリヤ人の宗教文献群「ヴェーダ」から，特に紀元前800年頃以降に順次編集された文献を中心に，当時の人々の死生観と後の仏教時代に確立した「業と輪廻」の思想とついて概説する。できるだけ多くの原典翻訳に触れ，アーリヤ諸部族の定住化に伴う社会の変化を個々の議論から理解することを目指す。
This course introduces a bulk of religious texts gradually accumulated by the Āryan people since 800 B.C. The aim of the course is to help students understand views on life and death in the Vedic religion as well as development of 'karma' and 'saṁsāra' concepts during the era of Buddhism. Through weekly readings of translated Vedas in class students wil learn about social changes that accompanied the Āryan's transition from nomadic to sedentary life.
・当時の人々の死生観を，インド最古の宗教文献群ヴェーダVedaの伝承に則して把握することができる。
・仏教時代に確立した「業と輪廻」の思想が，ヴェーダ以来の議論を背景としていることが理解できる。
・宗教儀礼及び神学議論の整備と社会の変化とが連動していることが理解できる。
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to interpret the Āryans' views on life and death in line with the ancient Vedic tradition. They will also be able to discern the roots of such concepts as 'karma' and 'saṁsāra' in religious disputes around the Vedas. Finally, students will develop a better understanding of the interrelations between the development of religion and social change.

課題提出（随時，40％），レポート（60％）
The final course grade will be calculated as follows:
Written assignments 40%, final report 60%.
資料を配付する。参考書は授業で指示する。
Reading and reference materials will be distributed in class.
講義の前には，前回までの講義内容の中に不明な点がなかったかを，プリントやノートで確認し，講義後には，その日の内容に不明な点がないかを確認する。不明な点があれば，メモしておくこと。特に，素朴と思えるようなものでも疑問は放置せず，質問してください。質問は歓迎します。

原則として，前期のインド学概論の履修者であること。
The course is aimed primarily at the students that completed Indological Studies (General Lecture) in the first semester.
