【国際共修】日本語と英語で読む日本文学 Reading Japanese Literature in English and Japanese
英語に翻訳されている日本の作家による作品（小説、随筆、詩）などをテクストとして、受講者同士、受講者と教師とのディスカッションを通じて考えていく。
We will select and read works, such as novels, essays, and poetry, written in Japanese by Japanese author and translated in English . In class, students will discuss works of "Japanese literature" in the broad sense. In doing so, students will explore the significance of writing in Japanese, as well as what is written there and how.
・対象となる文学作品を、受講者自身が、英語と日本語のテクストで読み、自らそのテクストについて理解しようとする。
・作品についての英語と日本語によるディスカッションに積極的に参加し、さまざまな読みの可能性に気づく。
・異なる言語での対話に積極的に関わることを通じて、自らの表現にも自覚的になる。
・作品との対話、受講者同士の対話を通じて、日本語で書くこと／書かれたことについても考える。
-To make an effort to read and understand a given work of literature, either in English or in Japanese
-To realize the possibility of various interpretations of a work, through participation in discussions on it, both in English and Japanese
-To increase your awareness of how you express yourself, through your active involvement in dialogue conducted in a different language

Students will pick up an author and make a presentation by group and discuss the work using simple Japanese and simple English.
第１５回 まとめ Final lecture
日本語で書かれた近代から現在に至る「日本文学」のいくつかの作品をテクストとして選び、それを日本語と英語で読み、それについて、簡単な日本語と簡単な英語で発表・ディスカッションを行う。発表は授業開始時に決めた複数の担当受講者によって行い、それをきっかけに受講者全員がディスカッションする、という手順で、授業を進める。
Students will read, in both Japanese and English, works of "Japanese literature" originally written in Japanese in the period from the modern era to the present. Students will then pick up a theme and make a presentation by group and discuss the work using simple Japanese and simple English. The class will progress as follows. First, several presenters, to be decided at the beginning of the class, will make a presentation. After which, all students will engage in discussion, building on the presentation.
出席と授業への積極的な取り組みを重視する。

授業で扱う作品については、必ず読んだ上で授業に臨むこと。また、そのための小レポートも必ず提出すること
予習や小レポート作成に週２時間程度、発表前のグループワークに平均週１時間程度必要とする
Before you attend the class, be sure to read the text that you are going to discuss in the class. You have to do the small assignment after reading it and submit it in the next class.
You will need 2 hours per week for reading texts or writing small essay. You will also need 1 hour per week for preparing for your group presentation,

この授業は、日本語教育プログラムとの合同クラスである。討論や対話を重視する授業であるため、英語と日本語で自らの意見を述べること、他の人の意見を聞くこと、そこでの討論を通じて、作品の理解を深めていくことについて、常に積極的に参加する姿勢や取り組みを期待する。また、そのようなことに取り組める受講者の受講を強く求める。英語および日本語の能力も、どちらかの言語できちんとテクストが読めること、そのことについて、簡単な日本語／英語で討論ができるレベルであることを求める。このクラスは定員30名で、定員を超えた場合は抽選で受講者を決める。２年生以上の履修も推奨する。積極的に取り組むことができる学生であることが望ましい。
This class places great importance on discussion and dialogue. You will be expected to state your opinions in English and Japanese, to listen to others' opinions, and to show an active willingness to participate in discussions that deepen your knowledge of literary works. You should only register for this course if you are capable of meeting the above requirements. You are required to be proficient enough in English and Japanese that you are capable of reading texts in either one of the two languages, and you should be able to engage in discussions on those texts in simple Japanese or English. If the applicants were over 30, The participants will be selected by certain rule. It is desirable to work actively in the class.
