Economy and Society from Historical Perspective
歴史（主に世界史の中の西洋史の部分）の学習を通して、経済とは何か、また社会とは何か、さらにそれぞれの時間を通した変化（歴史的変化）について知る。
Through the study of history, find out what economy is and what society is, as well as the changes (historical changes) of both.
経済とは何か、社会とは何か、といういずれの問いについても初歩的な回答からより深い回答まで、考えたいレベルに応じた回答がある。また、より深い回答においては研究者間の見解が必ずしも常に一致しているわけではない。その前提のもとに、本講義では、まず、経済とは何か、社会とは何か、についての初歩的な回答を共有できることを目指す。その上で、受講者が、より深いレベルの回答を考える際の枠組み（基本的考え方）の提示や、手掛かりの提示を行うことまでを目的とする。
Both questions - what is the economy and what is society - have answers ranging from elementary to more in-depth answers, depending on the level of thought required. In the deeper answers, researchers do not always have consensus. Based on this premise, this lecture first aims to enable participants to share elementary answers about what an economy is and what a society is. Further the lecture presents frameworks (basic ideas) and clues for participants to consider deeper level answers.
以下の順番に沿って、解説を行う。講義の各回と各参考書の対応関係については、講義の第１回および、その後の講義でも適宜、明示する。

Each class will be given according to the following order. The correspondence between each class and each part of the textbook will be shown in the first lecture and in subsequent lectures as appropriate.
Course materials will be made available from Google Classroom for the class. Details will be given in the first lecture.
Reference books may be added, but any additions will be communicated promptly.

・ときおりの授業中に行う用語確認テスト。5回程度。成績評価の30％。
・レポートの書き方の練習問題。2回。成績評価の6%。
・長文レポート２回。それぞれ成績評価の32%。（長文：1500字から2000字程度の予定）
The terminology quizzes in classes. It will be held 5 times. Totally 30% of grade evaluation.
Writing practice check test. 2 times. 6% of grade.
Two longer reports, each worth 32% of the grade. (1500-2000 letters each.)

予習：各回の内容に対応する教科書の章を読んでおく。教科書の対応箇所は、第１回に指示する。その後も適宜指示する。
復習：（１）毎回、分からなかった用語を確認する。（用語はネットでの検索も可能。）
（２）長文レポートの準備をする。
Preparation: Read the chapters in the textbook corresponding to the content of each class.
Review: (1)Ccheck the technical terms you did not understand in each class. (you can search the words on the Web.) (2) Prepare longer reports.
