学際的手法によるグローバル世界へのアプローチ
Cross-Cutting Disciplinary Approach to the Globalized World
日本列島およびその隣接地域であるロシア・中国・モンゴル・朝鮮半島の自然・歴史・文化・現代を総合的に理解することを目的とする。現代世界を理解するための方法は、例えば経済学・政治学など様々なアプローチがある。地域研究はそのうちの一つであるが、学際的な手法をもちいて多様性を経験的に捉える点に特徴がある。特定の広域を対象に、その地質や生態系などの自然と歴史文化的背景を基盤にして現代の政治・経済・社会の諸相の複雑性の理解をめざすのである。もちろんそのためには既存のディシプリンに基づく方法論的視点の獲得が必要だが、その上で学際的知見を組み合わせた総合化が重要である。東北アジアは、日本と密接な関係をもつと同時に大きく異なる特徴をもった広域であり、その理解を深めることで、域内ばかりだけでなく、グローバルな現代における国家・民族・集団間の紛争・対立・交流の理解の手がかりを得ることができる。
The purpose of this course is to comprehensively understand the nature, history, culture, and modern times of the Japanese archipelago and its adjoining regions of Russia, China, Mongolia, and the Korean Peninsula. There are various disciplines to approach the modern world, such as economics and political science. Area studies is one of them, and it is characterized by an empirical understanding of diversity using an interdisciplinary approach. Targeting a specific wide area, we aim to comprehend the complexity of modern politics, economy, and society based on the natural and historical and cultural background. It is necessary to acquire methodological perspectives based on existing disciplines, but on top of that, it is important to integrate more than one disciplinary knowledge. Northeast Asia is a vast area that is closely related to Japan and at the same time has vastly different characteristics. By deepening our understanding of this region, we will be able to seize clues for conflicts, conflicts, and exchanges between nations, ethnicities, and other groups not only within the region but also in today's global society.
（1）東北アジア世界の自然・歴史・文化・現代に関わる複数の領域にわたる学術的知識特に経験的知見を身につける。
（2）地域研究において求められる自然科学・人文科学・社会科学の複数の方法論や理論を身につけ、それらを用いて現代世界の諸過程を自分なりに分析・解釈できるようになる。
（3）東北アジア地域の理解を踏まえた上で、グローバルな現代世界における実践的課題の発見とその解決に向けた考察ができるようになる。
(1) Acquire academic knowledge, especially empirical knowledge, across multiple fields related to the nature, history, culture, and modern times of the world of Northeast Asia.
(2) Acquire multiple methodologies and theories in the natural science, humanities, and social sciences required in area studies, and use them to analyze and interpret processes in the modern world in their own way.
(3) Based on the understanding of the Northeast Asian region, students will be able to identify practical issues in the modern global world and consider their solutions.

02 自然（担当：辻森樹）： 東北アジアの地質：大陸の離合集散、過去・現在・未来
かつて産業革命以降の近代的な地質学の発展は、鉱産資源の開発の基盤となり、近代文化と産業を支えた。今日では、地球の表層環境と内部、そしてその進化に関する包括的な理解が、地球科学からサステイナビリティ学への移行において不可欠な基礎知識の要として進展している。本回は東北アジアの地質記録を中心に、地球史における大陸の離合集散と過去、そして現在〜未来について概説する。
This lecture focuses on the geology of Northeastern Asia, providing an overview of the Earth's 4.6 billion years of evolution, including the stabilization of the present-day Asian continent. It also addresses the past, present, and a possible future of Northeastern Asia in geological time scale.
03 自然（担当：平野直人）：「東北アジアを造り出す太平洋プレート」
“The Pacific plate creating Northeast Asia”
太平洋プレートの沈み込みに伴い、東北アジアでは造山運動や地震・火山活動が多く発生し、激しい地殻変動にさらされている。本講では、現在の太平洋深海底と東北アジアの岩石に基づいた過去の海底岩石を論じる。
The Pacific coast of present Northeast Asian region created as a result of circum-Pacific orogenesis during the last 250 million years. This lecture explores paleo/present Pacific plate subduction and submarine geology, volcanology and petrology.
04 考古・民族（担当：田村光平）：東北アジアにおける新石器文化
人類史において、出アフリカ、国家形成など画期とされるさまざまな出来事があり、それによって社会的にも、生物学的にも、大きな変化が起こったと考えられている。本回はそのなかでも、土器利用の開始と農耕の拡散について、東北アジア地域における現在の研究について概観する。
Human history has various “milestones”, including “Out of Africa” and state formation, resulting in drastic social and biological changes. This lecture briefly illustrate an overview of current research on the emergence of pottery and the diffusion of agriculture in Northeast Asia.

11 現代史（担当：石井弓）：アジアの戦争と記憶
ウクライナやガザでの紛争や戦争が報道されている。戦争によって人々に深い心の傷が遺ることに思い至る人も多いだろう。アジアはどうだろうか。日本はかつて中国、朝鮮、台湾そして南洋諸島に侵攻し侵略した。その記憶は現在も対日感情や認識のレベルで影を落としている。そうした記憶を学問は如何に論じられるだろうか。本授業では中国を中心にしたオーラルヒストリーによる研究を紹介し、研究者の経験も踏まえて考える。
War and Conflict in Ukraine and Gaza are reported in the media. Many people may realize that wars leave deep emotional scars on people. What about Asia? Japan had invaded China, Korea, Taiwan, and the South Sea Islands. The memory of these invasions still casts a shadow on the level of feelings and perceptions toward Japan. How can academics discuss such memories? This class will consider this issue from oral history studies in China.
12 言語（担当：柳田）：地域研究では、言語学用語は取扱注意
いずれの地域であれ、そこの民族や文化を研究するにあたって言語に言及する場合には注意が必要である。我々は日常的に「方言」や「語族」といった語を目にしている。しかし、これらは言語学の専門用語であり、言語学における意味を知らぬままこれらの語を自らの研究に用いると、研究が危険な疑似科学に陥ることすらあり得る。この回では、このことについて考える。
Be careful with linguistic terms in area studies
In any region, we need to be careful when we refer to language in studying the people and culture of that region. We encounter words such as “dialect” and “language family” in our daily lives. However, these are technical terms in linguistics, and if we use them in our research without knowing their meanings in linguistics, our research may fall into dangerous pseudoscience. In this session, we will think about this issue.
13-14 国際関係（担当：石井敦）：国際政治と東北アジア地域をつなげる超学際科学
20世紀に進行したグローバリズムを受けて、地域研究と国際政治は切り離せなくなっている。その中で、地域の人々が国際政治に翻弄されるのではなく、能動的に国際政治と関わっていくための科学的手法が超学際科学である。本講では、超学際科学の基礎を概述した上で、気候変動対策技術として提案されている「気候工学」に超学際科学を適用し、超学際科学への理解を深める機会とする。
Transdisciplinary Science Connecting International Politics and the Northeast Asian Region: Following the globalization that progressed in the 20th century, regional studies and international politics have become inseparable. In this context, transdisciplinary science is a scientific method for local people to actively engage in international politics, rather than being at the mercy of international politics. This lecture will provide an overview of the fundamentals of transdisciplinary science, and then provide an opportunity to deepen understanding of transdisciplinary science by using a case study of the application of transdisciplinary science to a large-scale countermeasure technology called "climate engineering," which has been proposed to mitigate climate change.
