サンスクリット語基礎演習Sanskrit （Introductory Seminar 1）
この授業では、サンスクリット語初学者を対象に、古典サンスクリット語初等文法を講義します。サンスクリット語はインドの諸宗教の聖典語であり、南アジアの文化の基礎をなします。この地域の宗教・文化の理解を深めるには必須の知識です。この講義では、古典期文献を翻訳するため、サンスクリット語文法を概観することとします。
This class aims to introduce the grammar of classical Sanskrit for the students with no prior knowledge of this influential language. Sanskrit is the sacred language of Indian religions and forms the basis of the South Asian cultures. It is important to learn this language to better understand these religions and cultures. This lecture will provide an overview of primary Sanskrit grammar for the purpose of translating classical Sanskrit literature.

The goals of this course are to

2) be able to analyze inflected forms of nouns,
3) be able to translate plain sentences.

毎回、演習の時間をとり、出席者全員に単語の文法的解析と翻訳をしてもらう。また、インド学の知識を身につけ深めるため、印欧諸語に関説しながら古代インドの世界観、神話、生活文化等をも解説する。

Each week students will analyze and translate texts from their textbook. To acquire and deepen knowledge in Indology, it will be explained issues in myths, cosmology and lifestyles in ancient India referring to the Indo-European languages.

成績評価は授業参加状況（50％）、毎回の授業の課題達成度（50％）による。
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
--- class attendance and the attitude in class (50%),
--- the quality of the students’ in-class performance (50%).
教科書の練習問題を解説するので、指定された箇所を予習しておくこと。文法事項を暗記するのではなく、サンスクリット語の構造を理解するよう心がけること。
Students are required to prepare the assigned part of exercises before each class, and try to understand the grammatical structure ofSanskrit rather than memorize paradigms.
