Memory and Society
本授業では「記憶と社会」をテーマとして、各グループが設定した課題について、仙台市内でのフィールドワークやインタビューをもとに考察する。インタビューは多様な学問分野で広く活用される研究手法でありながら、学ぶ機会が乏しいことから、本授業でその実施方法の初歩的な訓練を行う。また授業を通して、社会の中から自ら課題を発見し考察する、文系・理系ともに必要な学問の基礎的な力を養う。
わたしたちが普段何気なく過ごしている社会は、様々な記憶と関連して成り立っている。記憶は個人のアイデンティティを形成すると同時に、個人と社会を繋ぐ役割を果たしてきた。このため歴史学や社会学においては「集合的記憶」や「社会的記憶」といった概念が提示され、社会と記憶の関係が分析されている。本授業では受講生が自ら設定した問題関心について（例：戦争の記憶、街の記憶、故郷の記憶、記念碑に込められた記憶など）、仙台市内でフィールドワークを行い、既存の概念を参照しつつ具体的な事例からその問題を論じる。講義は最初の2回行い、歴史学とオーラルヒストリーにおける記憶に関する議論を紹介したのち、フィールドワークの基本的な注意事項を共有した上で、調査を開始する。テーマ設定やインタビュー対象の選定、フィールドワークの中間報告をしてもらい、参加者とともに議論することで、内容を修正しつつ進め、最終報告までつくりあげていく。
In this class, with the theme of "Memory and Society," each group will discuss the issues which they have set, based on fieldwork and interviews in Sendai City. Interviews are a research method widely used in various academic fields, but there are few opportunities to learn it, so this class will provide elementary training on how to conduct interviews. Students will also develop the basic academic skills to discover and consider issues in society on their own.
The society in which we spend our daily lives is made up of a variety of memories. Memories form the identity of individuals, and at the same time, they have played a role in connecting individuals and society. For this reason, concepts such as "collective memory" and "social memory" have been proposed in history and sociology to analyze the relationship between society and memory. The first two lectures will be given to introduce the discussion on memory in historiography and oral history, and then basic precautions for fieldwork will be shared before the research begins.
問題意識をもって人や社会と向き合い、フィールド調査を通して解を見出していくという実践的な研究を経験する。また、それをレポートにまとめる。インタビューよってコミュニケーション能力を向上させる。
Students are expected to experience practical research by deriving a problem from society and finding its solution through field research. They are also expected to compile them into a report. Students will improve their communication skills through interviews.
授業は以下のような予定で進めていくが、フィールド調査の進度に合わせて予定を変更することもある。受講生は研究発表後に内容をレポートにまとめ、提出すること。

成績評価はプレゼンテーション（中間報告、研究発表）40％、レポート40％、授業への参加（議論やミニッツペーパー）20％の割合で行う。
Grading will be based on the following ratios: 40% for presentations (mid-term reports and research presentations), 40% for reports, and 20% for class participation (discussions and minute papers).
本授業の中心は、受講生によるフィールド調査と発表（プレゼンテーション）である。受講生は時間外学修として、必要なフィールド調査（インタビュー）をグループで行い、プレゼンテーションの準備をすること。また、成果発表後に各自成果をまとめたレポートを作成すること。
Students are expected to conduct the necessary field research (interviews) and prepare for the presentation as extra study. After the presentation, students are required to write a report summarizing their findings.
