地球の定員を考える / Considering Earth's capacity
地球にはどれだけの人数が住めるのか、適正な人数はどれくらいかなど、「地球の定員」に関係する課題を、エネルギー問題、食糧問題、地球環境の問題や人口倫理学の観点など、さまざまな立場から考え、議論することを通して、複合的な課題への取り組み方を学ぶ。前半は動機付けの講義を行う。後半はチームワークとし、3-5人程度のチームを組んで行う。
Students will consider a problem related to “Earth’s capacity” such as how many people can live on Earth, what is the proper population of Earth etc. from various aspects of energy problem, food problem, global environment problem, population ethics etc. through which they acquire the abilities to confront a complex problem. The first half consists of introductory lectures. The second half is a teamwork conducted in teams of about 3-5 members.
・唯一解のない複合的な課題への取り組み方を身につける。 / Acquire the abilities to confront a complex problem which does not have a unique solution.
・研究の方法（問いの立て方、情報収集の方法、推論・議論の方法、論理的・批判的思考、プレゼンテーション力、など）を身につける。/ Acquire research methodologies (how to setup questions, how to collect information, methods of estimation and discussion, logical and critical thinking, presentation skills, etc.).
・チーム活動を通じてチームワークにおいて必要な能力（コミュニケーション力、計画力、自己管理力、他者理解力、など）を身につける。 / Through team activities, acquire the abilities necessary for teamwork, such as communication, planning, self-management, understanding others.

第5回 人口倫理学の観点から / Population ethics
第6回 地球の定員の計算例とその検討 / Example of estimate of Earth’s capacity and its evaluation
第7-9回 チームワーク：課題の設定、調査と議論 / Teamwork: setup the problem, survey and discussions
第10回 チームワーク：中間報告 / Teamwork: interim report
第11-13回 チームワーク：調査と議論、発表準備 / Teamwork: survey and discussions, preparation for the final presentation
第14, 15回 成果発表会 / Final presentation
出席、チームワークへの積極的な参加、発表資料作成への貢献、成果報告会での発表、最終レポートの内容にもとづいて評価する。/ Evaluation will be based on attendance, active participation in teamwork, contribution to the final presentation including preparation, and the report.
調査・研究の実施は授業時間内だけでなく、各自で持ち帰って作業を行うことが必要となる。またグループ内で連絡を取り合い、資料などを手分けして読み合う必要がある。 / Research activities need to be completed by each member outside of the lecture time. Groups need to keep in touch with each other and read materials regarding the problem of each team.
