1. Objective
This course provides fundamentals of thermodynamics which is a base of non-ferrous metallurgy. Through the understanding, student will obtain basic knowledge on smelting process for several metals.
2. Outline
Non-ferrous metals such as copper, zinc, aluminum, titanium, silicon, and rare earths, which have different physical and chemical properties, are produced by the suitable smelting process. This course provides knowledge on characteristic of metals and thermodynamic analysis method for reaction. Smelting flow from ore to metal is also provided.
This lecture is mainly provided face-to-face. Students have to check the Google classroom of this class for obtaining a text.
3. Goal
Students will understand chemical and physical properties of metals and fundamentals of thermodynamics. Student will develop ability applying the fundamental knowledge on smelting process to solving real problems.
