地球規模の環境問題は産業活動に伴う気体、液体、固体廃棄物の排出量とその処理形態が生態系と適合しないために起きている。環境問題の現状、廃棄物の発生の抑制及び資源化に対する化学技術の現状、新しい物質循環システムの課題について講義する。また、受講院生は、環境問題に関連したテーマを各自設定し、テーマに対する調査研究報告をプレゼンテーションし、発表に対するディスカッションを行う。

Global-scale environmental problems are due to the fact that the quantities of gas, liquid, and solid waste produced by industrial activities and the way these are treated are not compatible with ecosystems. The lectures will deal with the present state of environmental problems, the state of chemical technology for the restriction of the production of waste and its resource recovery, and the challenge of new material recycling systems. Graduate students attending the lectures will each set a theme related to environmental problems, present a research report on this theme, and participate in class discussions based on the presentations.
