*This class will be held face-to-face.
* In this class, we will use Classroom to provide lecture files and to submit reports, as necessary.
1. Objective
Knowledges about the strength, hardness, toughness and brittleness of materials are necessary to use building, plant, equipment and device with confidence during long time. In this course, students will earn the effects of microstructure on the materials properties as well as inherent nature. In addition, students will learn the basic principle of the microstructure control technique.
2. Overview
Materials are roughly classified into structural materials that mainly utilize mechanical properties and functional materials that mainly utilize properties such as electricity, magnetism, and optics. In this class, students will learn structure control in various metal and alloy materials, mainly taking structural materials as an example.
3. Achievement goals
・ The purpose of this class is to help students explain the basic properties of structural materials from the viewpoint of microstructure.
・ The purpose of this class is to help students explain the characteristics of material selection from the viewpoint of material science.
・ This class is designed to help students gain the perspective needed to review basic knowledge about general engineering around material engineering.
・ This class is designed to help students gain the perspective needed to understand the relationship between engineering and natural phenomena and human society, and to acquire the ability to contribute as a researcher or engineer.
